Went out, came back unable to unlock my laptop despite typing in correct password. Noticed that some of my keystrokes are not registering.

Looks like one of the cats managed to strategically position themselves on the keyboard just right to activate the filter keys prompt and the “yes” button on it.

I got an email from the regional manager in response to the complaint that I lodged last night. He wants to organise to meet with me tomorrow. Unfortunately I’m not available on Fridays so I’ll have to meet him next week.

I’m not super keen about meeting people in person or discussing things over the phone, to be honest. Sort of get that way when people do that and promise the world and then don’t follow through with it. Plus I feel like I am able to better articulate my points through email, but I seem to be in a very exclusive club with that.

I’ll probably have to meet him in person, but I’ll try and organise for someone else who’s on my side to come so I have another advocate and a witness in case he tries to get out of whatever promises he makes. But then again I did that when I had a meeting with the former acting regional manager and he still refused to uphold his end of the agreement, so maybe it’s all pointless

If they push you into a discussion by yourself it’s a good idea to get anything said in writing so they can’t lie and bs later. Do not talk to them on the phone.

Also great to have someone with more power present or bcc’ed in, good idea

The whole point about formal minutes of a meeting is JUST EXACTLY THIS. So the participants can’t wriggle out of undertakings given and recorded.

Baku, let me introduce you to the ancient and uncivilised practice of writing the minutes of a meeting BEFORE the meeting.

Start with the agenda of the meeting - a bullet point list of items to be discussed. These should be few in number. Ideally less than 6. You might like to send this bullet point list to the regional manager before the meeting so he knows what topics you want to discuss. For example :

      • return/repair/replacement/compensation of stolen/damaged goods
      • living arrangements going forward including repairs to locks etc.
      • what happens if someone else is moved in to your house without consulting you
      • personal safety
      • maybe another item that you consider necessary

These can be in any order - I usually put the most important one at the top but you might like to start with something that the manager can agree with as this can be a useful way to get co-operation on the other items.

Then, (not sending this bit to the manager) expand on each bullet point by adding 3 short paragraphs/sentences describing and/or discussing 1) What if you get everything you want when you want it AND who is responsible for seeing that you get it, 2) If you get something, but not all of what you want and who is responsible for each/what etc, and 3) You don’t get anything, and won’t get it in the future either.

Print this out (or save on your phone screen) and take to the meeting. As each bullet point is discussed, you strike out whichever of 1) 2) or 3) above that doesn’t apply - for each bullet point. At the end, you’ll have a list of what was discussed and what was agreed, and who is going to action each item agreed to.

At the end of the meeting you make the person read the document, and sign off on it if at all possible. If you like, give them a copy so that they have a record available too.

This is standard corporate practice, and will do a lot to concentrate their mind on doing things properly.

I’m in that club as well. Let him know while it’s okay to meet face to face, you’d like to be able to send him an email prior to the meeting with your points laid out and ask that he sends you a follow up email after the meeting with what was discussed. Heck, write him one afterwards with what was discussed and get your advocate to read over it.

Went out to a mutual friend’s birthday, and holy shit, she knows so many people. She met people from uni, from dating apps that she befriended, from high school, through friends, it was actually crazy. I spoke to so many people.

My friend’s partner told me that he keeps feeling like he needs to ask me if I’m okay? Not sure why, maybe I just give off that shy and quiet vibe? I wanna know how I can stop that. Also apparently I smile all the time - nervous defense mechanism.

    overthinking overreacting

Torn between feeling good and feeling bad. I feel good because next week I start my course and I’m changing my future.

But I feel bad because I feel so far behind. I don’t even have $40k of super. I don’t have a career. I’ve burnt my brains out trying and failing at call centre work for 10 years. I still feel like I’m failing. That I have already failed and I’m waiting for it to catch up with me. I can go back and blame the first 28 years of my life but I’m also autonomous. Why haven’t I got a high powered career making big money and have a nice nest egg. I’ve never had enough to even travel to Bali FFS. Idk. I just feel the weight of the past more than ever and I. scared of failing again. It’s gonna take me three years to get where I want to be, qualification wise, and I’ll be 35. And I have to then find work and start paying my HECS off. I don’t feel like I’m ever gonna have a home or feel financially secure.

Alright tough love time: Everyone is running their own race, and everyone started with their own unique handicap so you cant compare anyone elses life to your own.

BUT: If you’re not happy with where your at? Fix it. Process the emotions, work through everything then get up dust yourself off and keep going. Sadly no one else is gonna step up and help you out here, so its up to you to live the life you wanna live. Set some goals and make 'em happen. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it would never have been built without starting out and some tough days.

I’m ten years older than you and have only worked out careers that I don’t like. Hecks is only a problem if you make money. Due to lifelong research I’m an associate professor in being broke and feeling like I have enough. I has a super fun 20s & 30s. I’ve eaten the double dick of lockdown then hernia for being a massive hermit. Pulled my super out during covid because there’s just something about it that I’m sus on, possibly just simple financial iliteracy on my part but gimmie my money. Impermanence, you ultimately cannot rely on anything other than your own mind/thoughts. Once I’m able to work again I’m considering scaffolding and getting back into jiu-jitsu. I’ve always enjoyed physical work over intellectual. My first degree got wiped out by arduino. I don’t like the myotherapy industry in Australia, the way to make money is to run a clinic (rent seeking) not be a therapist. Plus any job I can leave at the job is a bonus. hits vape, pops another endone

Better to be working towards a career you will enjoy later in life than to have stayed in a career you hated for the sake of being financially stable earlier in life. Yes, it would have been better if you found what you wanted to do career-wise earlier in life but it doesn’t always work out that way. I think what you’re doing is brave, a lot of people would have stuck to their existing career, too scared to make a change. The money and holidays will come in time!

I was just getting all the meat off yesterday’s roast chicken for lunch sandwiches and Bill Cat was begging real bad, but I know him, he won’t eat it but he does like stealing chicken from plates!!

So I put some pieces on a plate and put that on the small table in the living room then walked away. He is stealing it right now and I can hear him eating.

    Stolen chicken is yummier. 🤭

Was in Brunswick today for a dentist appointment. Ended up wandering around afterwards. God I miss it. Maybe I’ll head back in 6 months if all goes well with this job.

It makes coming back to where I live so depressing. My mantra for the last 6 months has been “all in good time”.
And so it will be once again hopefully.

In other news, I found an amazing new Middle Eastern instruments library that will expand my compositions significantly. It doesn’t have as many functions as my other one, but it has a wider variety of instruments and they sound good right out of the box.

Exciting, it is a lovely place. Can’t wait for you to join me in listening to the local pop sing and dance on a Friday night lol.

Awesome about your instrument library! I love to hear anything you’re willing to share! I really like the piece you shared last time, the one that was in your head for ages :D

Everything is coming up for you, friend! This is joyous, and you deserve every ounce of goodness that comes from it!!

        Thank you so much ❤️

Yeah it’s been a crazy few weeks. I’m just keeping my head down and hoping for the best.

I grew up in Brunswick in 90’s and it’s changed so much. I’ve got a lot of memories running amok along Sydney road lol

It’s definitely interesting these days. More lively for sure and as much as it’s changed, its still got the old school Brunswick vibe. Especially past Blyth Street heading towards Coburg.

I love the area because it’s not pretentious and everyone is friendly.

The Middle Eastern library sounds really exciting. Just thinking 2 of my fave bands use ME instruments in a fusion sound, Brian Jonestown and No Quarter

I’ve been informed that it’s Vegas’ 10th birthday on Saturday! I need to figure out what to get him. Think I’ll hit up the butcher but I might have to wait until Saturday to do it so it doesn’t spoil the surprise, because he’ll smell it. I’ll swing by the big pet shop too and see if I can find something he might like.

Edit: Oh it’s also my nanna’s 98th birthday tomorrow. I don’t think she wants anything from the butcher.

She’s incredibly strong. I saw a clip of her seizure and it kills me. Her voice and power is rare and incredible, and for her to slowly lose that is devastating. She’s earned her spot amongst the best singers (the trifecta: Whitney, Mariah, Celine).

I still love and listen to her Eurovision entry. It’s how she got so big. She sang in french but was competing for Switzerland, as a Canadian. She changed the economy of the LA strip by doing residencies, which bought in massive revenue and made doing residencies viable for other artists again (previously they were usually for those past their music peak). Her philanthropy, her kindness. If anyone doesn’t deserve her condition, it’s her.

Here’s an odd one (to me at least).

P’s are going to a funeral tm and everyone has to chip in a $fiddy.

Extremely wealthy family. I’ve never heard of that before. Is that a thing now?

I understand they’re expensive but just never seen that before.

Very odd, I’ve been to a lot of funerals and never have been asked to chip in.

It’s up to the family to organise and decide what to do with the funeral and it’s their responsibility to finance it and everyone’s else role is to pay respects or to celebrate their life.

The only time where I might have to was when they organised a after lunch or something but I didn’t go so no idea if that ended up being split.

Extremely wealthy and they’re insisting people chip in for a funeral? That’s extremely tacky.

I’ve heard of people asking for donations to a charity rather than flowers, but never for the cost of the funeral.

Me either - sounds dodgy to me. Is the funeral going to be catered??? If so, why??? Usually funeral expenses are covered by the executor of the deceased’s Will as a first charge on the estate. The whole “after payment of funeral expenses and just dues and taxes” bit that nearly every Will starts off with.
Sounds like the beneficiaries of the estate want to maximise their slice of the pie to me.
