    I love how one of the selling points of my phone (which was all the smart “AI” crap, one of which being the ability to transcribe a recording) completely falls apart the moment it’s not an American talking directly into the microphone… I don’t think it’s actually understood anything I’ve tried to use it for, even in person and very clear discussions. But my favourites are trying to record train announcements:

    “Now arriving at Berwick [Berrick]” > “now I’m riding ash ferric”

    "Next [unintelligible] is Narre Warren station " > “best mattresses marijuana station”

    “Berwick [Berrick]” > “Spheric”

    And bonus from Sydney: “Saint Peters” became “simp penis”

      Train announcements are pretty garbled on good days though? But yeah voice recognition is still pretty bad - struggle with it in my car. Have to try and americanise what I’m saying.

      I always used to think “automatic transcription is hard, mistakes are inevitable” until I realised even the most noisy mumbly country-accented American speech gets transcribed basically perfectly on YouTube and other places.

      Was chatting last night with a REA (social situation) - who reckoned that it was IMPOSSIBLE for a new cig/vape shop to open right now due to skyrocketing insurance costs. Landlords are very very leery about renting to anyone or any corporation that deals in cigs/vapes due to this.
      EDIT: forgot to mention - a lot of existing landlords of commercial shops are doing emergency reviews of leases to such shops.

They’re mimicking algang warfare in order to cash out on their insurance and move out the business into something more standard and wholesome, like cocaine

    I’m awake way too early but I guess I need to start resetting my internal clock back for work.

    Tradies are over today installing solar panels, ironically on a cloudy and maybe rainy day and they actually arrived early and on time at 7:30am. 😢 😴

    Going to also lose power for a few hours too. I pray it’ll happen after the test cricket is done today.

    I dropped off the sample and paid, hopefully it’s usable.

    I feel so awkward around people and going outside these days. The Uber driver small talk script seems to be working ok, but it’s not exactly sparkling. And then there’s dodging the genuinely cooked neighbours 😬

      I almost thought you were talking about coffee then I remember, nah, it’s beer!

      I have this odd glass I was given awhile ago with indent of a bottle so you could tip it in the glass by flipping it after placing the cup on top.

      Haven’t used it though.

    apparently calling out hate speech and racist lies is now abuse

    Been waiting for a non windy non wet day to spray weeds again… plus endless lawn mowing. Neighbours not doing weed control so I’m getting their weeds sprouting in my property.
