Trump sported neither gloves not a hair net as he worked at a branch of the fast food chain in Pennsylvania

Earlier this year, this location didn’t meet the compliance requirements of the Bucks County Health Department. A health inspection in March at the Feasterville-Trevose location resulted in four violations, including citing employees not having their “hands clean & properly washed.”

“Food employees are not washing their hands as required before putting on gloves, after handling soiled tableware, after handling raw meat, before handling clean tableware, equipment, utensils. CFSM must review hand washing requirements with staff. Observed employees handling raw beef with gloves and then switching gloves without hand washing step in-between,” the health inspector wrote.

The report also noted a lack of hairnets: “Food workers are not wearing hair restraints as required, which includes management that assists in packaging and preparing food. Employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, that are effectively designed and worn to keep their hair from contacting exposed food; clean equipment, utensils and linens; and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles.”

Trump opposes genocide? Dang, I guess when he said to “finish the problem” in relation to Israel’s invasion of Gaza, released a plan for the Middle East that included giving Israel sovereignty over their illegal West Bank settlements that were the result of their ongoing campaign against the Palestinian people, and told Netanyahu to “Get your victory and get it over with,” while also denouncing calls for a ceasefire, then saying “I will give Israel the support that it needs to win but I do want them to win fast.”

I’m saying Israel should be given the right to Palestinian land, and that we should support Israel in their genocide of innocent human beings while denouncing attempts to get a ceasefire? Wow, that’s news to me.

I believe there should be an immediate ceasefire, the return of all land taken from Palestinians to Palestinians, and significant monetary reparations paid to the Palestinian people to cover the cost of rebuilding the society Israel bombed into rubble. I believe Netanyahu should be charged for his crimes.

If anything I actually say and do lines up in any way with what you think Trump has said he’d do, I’d be quite surprised.

You’ll say everything you just said to me right now, then you’ll turn around and vote for the people actively committing genocide.

You’re a nazi. Everything you said is a lie.

Actually you’re worse than a nazi. They voted for Hitler before he committed a genocide, not during.

In a system where my vote categorically will not positively influence society if it is used to vote outside of the duopoly, I have two choices, the blatantly fascist candidate that is substantially more akin to Hitler than any Democrat, or the somewhat more mild Democrat.

If I vote for a third party, my vote will only give the fascist a higher chance of gaining power than he otherwise would.

If I vote for Kamala, at least there’s a lesser chance of the fascist winning. That’s a start, and I can then continue advocating for the Democratic party engaging in better actions going forward, engage in direct political action, and do what I can to push the overton window to the left, hopefully making it harder for fascists to get into power in the future.

I do not enjoy this system, but it is the one I live in. I can either vote for Trump, or Kamala. Any other choice simply removes any meaningful effect my vote would have had.

So, what do you suggest I do? I’m serious. Do you think I should have voted for Trump instead?

You’re voting for a fascist with different aesthetics. You will never find me telling you how to vote one way or another though. Use your energy organizing. If you happen to be one of the 18% of the population who even gets to decide if they want to play along with this bullshit, spend as little time as possible thinking about it or doing it.

Although if you decide to vote for either of the major candidates this time you’re giving material support to a genocide so it’s no exaggeration to call you a nazi. Fuck you.

You’re voting for a fascist with different aesthetics.

Democrats, so far, have not shown to me that they are fascist in any meaningful way. They actively engage in messaging and political action that abhors the idea of a natural social hierarchy, have still worked to uphold general democratic ideals, and are still liberal. (among much else) That alone doesn’t meet what most people would consider fascist. They’re simply just not very good, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call them fascists. not yet, at least. If they continue going further along that path, I will always reconsider based on the best evidence I have available.

if you decide to vote for either of the major candidates this time you’re giving material support to a genocide

If the only two options on the ballot are genocide, and even worse genocide, and not picking just increases the chances of the even worse genocide happening, I’ll pick the option that does less genocide any day. I am not choosing to support a genocide, I am choosing between two possible genocides, of which one will inevitably be chosen regardless of my input. I have no choice in whether it will happen, only how badly it will.

I am a utilitarian. When given a limited set of options, if one will reduce the overall harm caused, I’ll pick the one that does the least harm. If I must pick between someone killing 5 people, and someone killing 10, I will pick the one who kills 5. (assuming I have no way to prevent either option in the first place)

This election will happen. One of these candidates will be chosen. It is the same dilemma, a choice where a result will occur, but to what degree it affects the world is something I can influence.

Knowing Trump’s past policy and rhetoric, and comparing it to that of Kamala, and the Democratic party more broadly, it’s extraordinarily easy to tell that Trump will cause more overall harm to the world, not just in the case of the Palestinian people, but of all people across the globe. As long as the opposing party will do less harm, that is who I will vote for in order to reduce his chances of winning. Not necessarily because I support every policy they have, but because I know they will produce the least harm comparatively.

                  Use your energy organizing.

I can do that and vote according to my utilitarian ideals at the same time. These are not mutually exclusive.

it’s no exaggeration to call you a nazi. Fuck you.

Get me a definition of Nazi-ism and explain how it ties into my rhetoric thus far.

It doesn’t matter, they’re voting for him anyway. The idea is to boost Kamala enough that planned nonvoters, vote.

That’s all. That’s the point of the campaigning. One more shitty Trump thing on the shitpile of shitty things that have accumulated in 8yrs won’t change anything.

What changes is convincing non voters to vote Kamala. And that happens by talking about Kamala, not Trump.

When I was starting out every resume book, class, website said not to put retail or food service jobs on your resume unless you were applying to your very first professional job (shows you can hold a job and have some experience working with others and taking orders from a manager) or it was relevant to the job you were applying to.

The reason Trump and his handlers think this is such a gotcha is because they got all their jobs from mommy and daddy and their parents’ friends. His cult has worked the same job their entire life, don’t actually work and collect worker’s comp, or don’t need a resume for the type of job they have.

          Not really impressive.

I review a lot of resumes. When it’s for someone right out of school or very early career, it makes sense for them to include things like fast food work or retail. But it seems really strange when someone with decades of relevant experience (I hire software engineers) includes it.

You know, I’ve had this debate with other managers at work. One was incensed because he got a resume that listed being a raid leader, and thought it was ridiculous. I told him I used to be a WoW raid leader and, even though it’s a game, it requires explaining encounters to people who might not be familiar with them, getting ten or more people to follow a game plan, staying calm when things aren’t going to plan, and a whole lot of other skills that are useful in the workplace. I’ve never thought to put it on my own resume, but I think it’s pretty valid.

it gives a false sense of cleanliness and makes people not wash their hands as often as they should.

To expand in that. If someone wears gloves and touches e.g. raw chicken and then something else it’ll contaminate it and anything they’ll touch afterwards.

People asking for gloves are usually misguided. As said, due to gloves they’ll not charge gloves or wash when needed. And that’s pretty often.

Strangely there’s some huge craziness where there’s loads of comments that ask for gloves and think it’ll improve hygiene. While to me gloves indicate a poor hygiene understanding.

I don’t HAVE to wear gloves while at home (unless touching meat), because I know I’M the one washing my hands.

There are so many people in this world that refuse to wash their hands after using the restroom, and you want them to touch your food bare handed??? These same people that might have pulled their phone out to reply or scroll on it for a minute? The same phone that is probably chock full of germs…?

At least with gloves (especially those that put the gloves on before they prep your food), and proper management, you can at LEAST assume some sort of cleanliness.

The same exact thing can be said for your bare handed argument.

It’s called TRAINING. It’s something that happens before you get hired on, while you’re being trained on food prep, and is plastered over the walls of any decent food joint not run by a moron. For fools who don’t follow the guide, as I mentioned above, you get a verbal warning, leading up to getting fired, for not following something so simple. That’s where a manager comes in, which is supposed to be part of their job, to ensure these guidelines are being followed.

If you’re still confused, here is a similar poster that was plastered onto the walls of the fast food joint I worked at as a teenager (and had no issues following them, unlike some adults here…) to which I then became a manager and had to enforce them like they were on me.

What you’re supposed to do is wash hands, new gloves, and when you need to change your gloves again (they even have a handy little poster that reminds you when!), you wash hands, put new gloves on.

Isn’t that why you have training, and a manager to ensure proper steps are being taken?

My manager took her job seriously, and if she came around and noticed you:

          A) weren’t wearing gloves B) weren’t keeping to the guidelines by changing gloves at the allotted time C) ESPECIALLY not washing your hands

You’d get a verbal warning, write up for subsequent violations, and then fired for not being able to properly follow these simple guidelines.

I don’t want your bare hands touching my food. Period.

A hospital should be even more strict about these simple guidelines. Seeing you so vehemently against something as simple as gloves on top of washing your hands, makes me so glad I cook at home. Keep on, I guess. Who cares anymore, am I right?

Gloves aren’t a sign of cleanliness or hygiene and people using their clean hands is much better than people wearing gloves and not cleaning often enough because they don’t realize their gloves are dirty. It’s that simple. It’s even you see cooks wearing gloves that you should be worried.

weren’t keeping to the guidelines by changing gloves at the allotted time

I don’t understand why you are having such a hard time grasping such a simple thing as guidelines.

A guideline, in this case, is something to follow, which all employees should do, to prevent any unnecessary contamination. Gloves are an extra precaution, on top of washing your hands properly, that minimizes the risk of contaminating the very food that someone else is going to be putting into their body.

Gloves in a FOOD environment, alongside hair nets, are just a no brainer for someone that will be serving food to another human being. On the daily, I see motherfuckers who can’t even be bothered to wash their hands after using the restroom, and you expect me to see someone cooking food without gloves on, and continue to eat that shit???

The allotted time is for when you haven’t gotten your gloves dirty, or at the very least not contaminated with other food stuffs. That means that if you get your gloves covered in the food you are prepping, you go and wash your hands and put on a new pair of gloves. Simple as hell, and promotes a healthy cooking environment. There are literally no downsides, just the ones you make up in your head.

    He looks so fucking tired.

It’s not even a real job or even a shift, it’s a photo op and he looks like he’s about to collapse in all those photos.
