Can we drag it out and never quit?

Fell asleep to some video of the difference between Quebecois and Parisian French. Felt somewhat better after and made it to airport short term wait area. No hope of any meal prep tonight so I think I’m just gonna have to write off the rest of today and consider a sickie tomorrow if I don’t feel any better. Blurgh. Brain no can use

Oh nah. Woke up to the sounds of something scurrying and scratching in the roof. Possums? Rats? We get possums quite regularly but the sound they make is a bit of a thud when they run across the roof, and this sound Is different, like something is inside the roof.

Rats. 100%. They can lift roof tiles and squeeze into the tinyest of cracks and stuff. They’re an absolute nightmare tbh.

I setup my security camera yesterday and it caught a few possums overnight! I had to turn the sensitivity down and customise the monitoring zone because they kept triggering movement notifications

      POSSSSSUUUUUUMMMMM

Rats are difficult to be rid of. Basically you want to find their run (their paths) and bait around there.

There is also bait you can chuck up into the roof. Iirc, they dehydrate the rats and they leave to find a water source. Be aware of you have pets though, as cats may catch the rat and get poisoned too, or dogs may eat the bait.

Other than that, trying to find where they’re getting in and closing it up. They’re notoriously difficult, but don’t leave food out or anything that would attract them.

A pest controller wouldn’t do much more than the above tbh, having worked for a pest control company.

Ugh I’m going to be such a shit home owner or even tenant. I have zero qualms about baiting or lethal trapping just about any pest, but I just couldn’t with rats. I know pet rats are completely different, but I can’t not see wild rats as troubled pet rats, even though they still freak me out

I got to meet someone’s pet rats once, they’re so cute. They even have little hands 🥺

They’re also fucking IMPOSSIBLE to get a good photo of

I eventually recovered from this morning’s headache with some decent pho, only to end up staying out late with a wine and cider. Probably will be okay, I don’t feel as crazily buzzed as I did last night, but I’ve taken a preventative Nurofen anyway. It was a good night of catching up so I don’t mind. Lots to do when I wake up though so hope I don’t feel too crummy in the morning. Good night everyone.

I’m starting to loathe internal work wake-up clock. Grr…

But now also wondering if Zelda’s is open… 🤔

(Yes, I will drive suburbs and brave the cold for a cookie.)

Edit: No luck. Probably a good thing. (Also still annoyed about my crap steak last night. Can’t believe how much it’s bothering me.)

I sadly think that just secured a MAGA victory. When I saw the photo of a triumphant Trump leaving the stage whilst fist pumping and bleeding, I thought OMG this is going to send MAGA supporters even deeper into blind frenzy hero worship. Project 2025 here we go.

Please please let him die. What a horrible thing to say but man I can’t see this all ending well if he lives.

I doubt it. He’s a leader of a cult, not Martyr. they know what happened to to folks on Jan 6th, and they know if he’s dead he can’t save them.

It’s all well and good to say you’re prepared to die for him, but actually doing it (especially once he is already dead) is another thing entirely.

        No.

It’s very, very hard to aim precisely enough to hit someone’s ear but not the rest of their head. That’s an absurdly precise shot to attempt deliberately.

It can’t be a BB gun or something either. They lose velocity really quickly over any sort of distance, so his ear wouldn’t go to pieces like that with a BB pellet.

        Real gun, real attempt.

I really don’t approve of violence for political purposes, but I can’t help but feel that the mongrel thoroughly deserves this or something like it. It’s a pity the shot went wild. Apparently the shooter is dead according to the abc.

The real downside is that he’s going to make political hay out of this - it’s a real gimme for motivating his voter base. Maybe even to saint and martyr status.

Yeah but there would be no one equivalent to replace him, so the traditionalist republicans might have a chance at regaining the party back from MAGAs.

Depending on how this plays out this could also stir up the public over there in not so good ways.

Trump’s going to ride this out and take it to his advantage sadly, I just hope he doesn’t kick the hornet’s nest with his supporters.

Unfortunately his son already declared that it was the extreme left that did it so it’s already political sadly.

Shame they missed even if I don’t condone it.

I really should have taken my clothes down yesterday when it was still sunny, even if they weren’t 100% dry.

Looks like a trip to the Laundromat is likely today unless it decides to stop intermittently showering.
