I haven’t read it all, but from reading like a couple paragraphs it says that the Chinese government is making mass incarcerations with accusations of extremism and terrorism, while these terms are not well defined and it appears that they are only targeting Muslims for their religion. Furthermore in these jails it appears that the Chinese government is doing things like forced injections, forcing people to take pills and other classics like torture, waterboarding and rape, invasive gynecological exams etc.
Inmates are forbidden to pray with guards making rounds at night to ensure compliance, being forbidden to speak their own language or practice anything from their culture. Prominent scholars, artists and intellectuals are being incarcerated, people are forbidden to leave the region or to receive or send money from the outside.
If it were Israel doing this, and they are doing this, you’d call it genocide, wouldn’t you?

I think the term ethnic cleansing is underused. It’s a strong term with a clear, unambiguous meaning that people can still stand against. It does not run afoul of the fact that when many people hear “genocide”, they don’t think of formal definitions, they think of WW2, trains and gas chambers, and attempts at thorough extermination at a large scale.
Ethnic cleansing, on the other hand, begs simple questions, like, what is the ethnicity being cleansed from? Simple answer: their land. How are they being cleansed? Killed, driven away or assimilated into another culture. What, exactly, is being cleansed? That group of distinct people right there, their name is whatever.
It’s clear, concise, and very hard to argue with from any sort of semantic position.

Posted a comment the other day that China was still supporting Russia who were killing innocent people and got banned, then one of the admins responded, and then my comment was removed.

It has nothing to with communism. Totalitarianism is more approriate. They do not allow any opinion except for the approved ones. They do not allow free discussions. They do not alllow critisism toward China or Russia.
That is not what communism is about, but that is what communism often manifests into when human greed and power hunger come into play though.
Communism is only possible though authoritarian governments. And even with that it collapses as basic things like farm maintenance fails to happen.
I feel like the communists on Lemmy go out of there way to reject any facts or beliefs that are remotely against communism. That is why they remove anything anti China or Russia. They see China as this Utopia and refuse to see anything else.
Only if you’re a very narrow definition of a very specific kind of communist. You’ll still be ostracized if you choose the wrong one.

Unless it’s life threatening, we all wait in line at the ER. It takes me 4 months to get an appointment with my PCP, and any specialists tests take weeks to get (again, unless it’s a need-it-right-now thing like a chest X-ray for pneumonia). You wait your turn at any walk-in clinic.
