I mean, Fuck Elon Musk, that’s a given, but I don’t like the term, never used it, never will
It just sounds so negative. I know its not an insult but fuck it sounds like one.
Thats like complaining about the term “hetero”.
Hetero doesnt sound like “Hiss” or “Piss”. Also somehow “Hetero” isnt a slur but “Homo” will get me fired.
Look I’m onboard with changing names, genders and pronouns, go be happy. Just saying that if the LGBTQI+ community doesnt like a word, it very quickly becomes unacceptable to use. But if I dont like a word I get told to suck it up because thats what I am… by people who very much dont like to be told what they are.

“When a marginalized group doesn’t like being called something deliberately hurtful, it becomes unacceptable. But how come no one cares that I don’t like how a word sounds phonetically?? That’s the same!!”
Yeah, if someone from a marginalised group says “Hey, I dont like that word” I dont ask why, I dont demand an explanation. I just dont use it.
But if I say “I dont like that word” I dont get the same consideration, I dont even get a polite “well thats dumb but whatever, ok” I get argued with and told my feelings are wrong.
Because the word is “cisgender” and there’s no world where its a slur.
You just don’t like how it sounds. It doesn’t marginalize or harm you in any way.
When you act pissy that you don’t get to play at being a marginalized group, you should expect to be told off.
I suppose technically instead of transgender we could use heterogender, meaning we’d say homogender instead of cisgender. The only time you’d use these terms (and similar ones, like AFAB/AMAB) is in specific situations where the nuance distinguishing the two matters.
You don’t have to use the terms either. It’s fully acceptable to just call people men and women, particularly in contexts where their assigned sex doesn’t matter, which I’d wager for most people is pretty much all the time.
go ahead, go out into the world, and start referring to any other person as “homogender”, ahahahaha, come back and report how far you got before someone punched you square in the nose
I mean it’s like complaining about the term “applesauce”
Do you dislike the term “transgender”?
That was useful information
I don’t like sex. Never did and never will. So I demand it to banned!
So genders are a slur now? Guess it’s they/them for everyone. Can’t be racist if you’re neutrally wrong.
Actually I unironically think this is right. Sexuality is a spectrum right? Then stop adding more and more stupid labels that just divide people and are wrong half the time anyway.
Good call, that’s why I refuse to learn people’s names. It’s just a stupid label I might get wrong sometimes and divides people, so why would I bother learning someone’s name?
(I’m being sarcastic, labels and pronouns are not this complex, just call people what they ask to be called)
Gender isn’t sexuality.
The prefixes cis- and trans- are rooted in Latin, and is commonly used in chemistry to describe the geometry of a molecule. The terms mean “this side of” and “opposite side of” respectively. It’s the same trans you see in “transatlantic”, as in “far side of the atlantic ocean”, and indeed the word “cisatlantic” is also in the dictionary.
So that’s precisely what trans-and-cisgender means. A cisgender person is someone who identifies “on the same side” of the gender they were assigned at birth, ergo they identify as their birthgender.
They’re not terms you need to identify with or use. They’re simply terms used to make a clear distinction in conversation where such a distinction is necessary.
Damn… this is a good explanation. Thanks!
Awe, poor you having to learn new words.
I’ve thought about changing my pronouns to they/them for the same reason
We could also just change the terms. Transgender becomes heterogender, and cisgender becomes homogender. Bit of a mouthful but since homo and hetero are in the common vernacular, it’s bound to erase all confusion that cis- and trans- comes with.
Someone get their ai chatbot to use it so it gets banned.
“Free speech absolutist”
We call him that sarcastically but idiots see it and think “he really is!” Free speech silencer should come up whenever someone searches for Elon Musk.
Cissies are so sensitive
Isn’t X a slur?
Here’s a thought.
