I know that country’s name should never be spoken, but it’s a little far to call it’s name an “f-bomb”

    /s, just in case

Fuck the reactionaries, fuck this far-right, fuck all of those who would like to lock us into a war of all against all.

Uncensored for your reading pleasure. Seems pretty badass to me and brought a smile to my face.

Side note: Has the media bias bot blocked me? I guess it doesn’t like when I point out how biased it is.

I get it, people getting angry for mocking Christianity. I mean, they believe in a single 2000 year old book of fairytales and believe in an imaginary friend.

I was wondering how she said it in French cause we don’t really have a translation for fuck (that would be “j’emmerde” in that specific case).

“Fuck aux réacs, fuck à cette extrême droite, fuck à tous ceux qui voudraient nous enfermer dans la guerre de tous contre tous”

Yeah ok, it’s easier that way, well done Madame La Maire de Paris 👌

I realize l’Académie Française frowns at the introduction of English words into the French language, but it feels like they should make an exception in this case.

They should insist that it gets written in the Constitution.

Le peuple français proclame solennellement son attachement aux Droits de l’homme et aux principes de la souveraineté nationale tels qu’ils ont été définis par la Déclaration de 1789 […]

En vertu de ces principes et de celui de la libre détermination des peuples, la République proclame Fuck aux réacs, fuck à cette extrême droite, fuck à tous ceux qui voudraient nous enfermer dans la guerre de tous contre tous.

Unfortunately the Académie Française is mostly full of crusty old men who think they can dictate how the french language evolves, so we rarely care about what they have to say

The alternative is English, where influencers and popular-girl types push something into popularity, and that drives the (d)evolution of the language. Quite actually the worst of us, the most shallow and short-sighted of us, people who peaked in high-school, people who have no idea how this or any other language works, decide how we speak.

Now we have words which are synonymous with their own antonyms, pluralization for a derived word different from its own root, no collective retained clue about mass nouns, and “because Becky said it” kind of rules fighting with the “massive population of ESL and their bad adjective order is the most popular, ergo the standard” mess.

And you complain about old scholars?

To be honest, it is the same here. The old scholars are mostly for show (and weird ass polemics).

Prescriptivism is exactly the opposite of blindly following vapid influencers and their eternal quest for ‘likes’. There is something in the middle between prescriptivism and Idiocracy, and that middle ground was the fucking point of what I said.

Yes it could be “Qu’ils aillent se faire foutre” as well.

So many ways of saying fuck according to different situations, it is better that she said “fuck” as a french version would have been too vulgar and would have provoked some political scandal.

Yes you can, but it won’t be the same meaning.

“Putain d’extrême droite” would be “fucking far right” and not “fuck the far right”.

That’s not much but one is being annoyed at something, the other is actively insulting something.

I for one embrace the use of fuck in french as new word.

Je fucke Tu fuckes Il/Elle fucke Nous fuckons Vous fuckez Ils/Elles fuckont

Or you can optionally drop the standard conjugation and just say fuck, idk. Also, “je the vais fucker” for “imma fuck you up”
