Okay so it’s very much not FOSS (we’re talking upwards of a couple hundred $ / month) but Esri’s StoryMap feature through their ArcGIS software suite would allow you to do exactly this. Having used StoryMaps though, this is by far the most comprehensive way to do something of this nature. You can upload GPS data directly to the software, export the map to the ArcGIS Online suite, then create a storymap from there. StoryMaps can be panned, animated, zoomed etc to your heart’s content.

Your other solution would be with QGIS, which is FOSS. I don’t think they have a StoryMaps analogue, but I’ve heard “QGIS2WEB” sort of works like that.

As always, paint is not infrastructure. What we need is bike lanes that are actually, physically separated from the road. While I’ve seen a pretty optimistic share of drivers not drive in the bike lane, there’s still an unfortunately high amount of people who gladly will.

I’m currently in college to go into GIS (Geographic Information Systems/Science) and lemme tell ya if I think more people in 1700 would understand “cartographer” than they would today.

I don’t think they’re suggesting wikipedia currently is “best researched and sourced,” just that a federated alternative wouldn’t automatically solve that issue.

Steer clear of anything that markets itself as being gaming focused. Plenty of middle-of-the-road office chairs provide decent back support and I’d even wager most are better for your long term health than a “gaming” chair. If there’s a local office furniture store nearby then I’d check that out. Still might be a bit pricey but I’m sure they have some cheaper options. My current one was like $200 from one of those stores and it’s served me very well. Super comfy, much better than my sibling’s gaming chair.

Nobody who’s looking for good coverage of anything should be reading / watching CNN anyway. The last 10-odd years have proven that all the major privately owned US networks are just total slop.

If somebody doesn’t have an idea of what they’re talking about (allegedly) then it would be far more productive to explain it than to keep arguing about it without actually solving anything.

Not to mention a large amount of NFL players don’t play for very long. A quick Google shows an average player career of just 3.3 years, which is ridiculously short even by modern sports standards. The average goes down depending on which position there is as well.

Imagine getting to the NFL and then only staying for a couple years. Sure you’re set for life with that paycheck but expecting somebody who’s like 24 years old at most to be able to be financially responsible with that money is just absurd.

I remember watching a documentary a long time ago about somebody similar who was a kid growing up. You could see him biking around his neighborhood while clicking. And his eyes were missing just like this person in the documentary.

A large part of the one I watched was about the kid being forced to learn caning and other techniques despite already being familiar with echolocation.

Maybe I should target him for ‘improperly applied hair dye’
