And yet this is still many orders of magnitude more same than thinking Donald Trump is fit to be president.
Y’all trying to get me banned from .ml again. I’m not falling for it.
Pixel dungeon, but it’s not really low stress.
It’s a shame that Rowling picked up absolutely zero from Nabakov’s writing style.
That was pretty apparent to me from the first chapter of the first book. I never got the hype and thought her writing was pretty bad, even by the YA standards of the time. Like, Piers Anthony farts out better YA fantasy on the toilet every morning, but Rowling writes some toddler-speak and everyone loses their fucking mind?
It’s even more insidious than this. In many conservative value sets, children are viewed as property, and domestic issues are viewed as household business. Many many cases of obvious CSA (and physical abuse in general) over the decades have been dismissed as “I’m sure the parents know best,” or “it’s not our business,” or “I’m sure we don’t know the whole story.” It was only very recently that this veil was pierced even a little bit, but it was not without significant struggle. And even now there is a growing backlash to the idea that children are to be allowed any autonomy or agency beyond their parents. Many people still believe it is is ok to hit children, or that children should not be allowed to use a nickname in school. These are all vestiges or even new iterations of this exact same attitude which has enabled all manner of child abuse over the years.
Make no mistake, in the conservative worldview, child abuse is still, to this day, only bad if the parents say it is bad.
A lot of people are reading this wrong. What is likely going to happen is that the district court will say that a grand Jury can decide if something is an official act. That might be challenged again but I’d wager that’s the next stop in this saga.
You don’t actually have to. Trust me I’ve been through this.
That’s not what they ruled at all. They said there was immunity for official acts, specifically citing constitutional powers like appointing judges, commanding the military and recognizing foreign states. That was honestly never in question. A lot of people are reading this wrong. This was a massive punt, which basically opens up the door for a jury to decide what constitutes an official act.
You’ve described liberal democracy. The combination of individual freedom plus democracy is supposed to provide a framework for curating precisely the kind of political agency you describe.
I mean that’s the rub right? Enlightenment liberalism claed its way out of the corpse of feudalism. Marx assumed communism would do the same thing to the corpse of capitalism. So far he’s just been wrong, at least in terms of the revolutionary/vanguardism model. That’s why there’s been an entire century of revision to that but of the model to incorporate more democratic forward values. It’s just you average internet leftist refuses to acknowledge this, because the fan service isn’t as good.
It’s honestly extremely sad that the primary requirement to be a leader is “ability to speak perfectly on stage for 2 hours.”
Sure, if you are comfortable with the moral liability of fascism them we probably don’t get along.
Maybe we don’t associate Biden with fascism frog
Baltimore’s subway is clearly worse.
Is that something people were asking for?
You can literally travel to China and find out yourself
Make sure to throw around the phrase “reasonable accomodation” a bit.
