My post office decided to not deliver my mail because my “sidewalk wasn’t shoveled”. For 3 days I was shoveling my sidewalk to my door and a drift kept forming over it. So shoveling it did nothing. Then I saw one of the usps workers delivering mail in my neighborhood. Walking through the snow between houses. Guess I didn’t need that mail then.

Some recent chatter here that DeJoy was actually doing ok things at the usps and that’s maybe why he is still hadn’t been removed by this administration.

Well maybe he just went sleeper mode for the four years and is rewakening to continue his assignment after all.

        This is the accurate interpretation.

People are complaining that it will now take mail longer to arrive coast to coast, to which I say USPS wasn’t meeting their service obligations prior. The new plan is just the timing reality of the old operation, except now service will be more reliable.

People complain that he is consolidating facilities and cutting jobs, to which I say USPS loses money with their mandates. They cannot reduce service areas and they cannot increase rates on their own. USPS hands are tied in so many ways, that if you want to blame anyone, blame congress.

If you want your mail faster, or if you want more people employed by USPS then you need congress to authorize things like banking services, or Congress has to pony up taxpayer money.

USPS is hamstrung by congress, and anyone with a problem need not look past their congressional representatives.

It’s been almost 4 years that he could’ve been replaced and he hasn’t so that’s not all on them, the Biden admin is at fault here as well.

Have you looked into how the postmaster general is appointed? The president has no direct power to oust the position unless it’s for cause, which carries with it a burden of proof.

The mechanism which was supposed to insulate the USPS from politics is functioning as intended, regardless of how shitty the guy is.

Have you? They are elected by USPS governors which get appointed by the president. Over half of the governors have been appointed by Biden. They absolutely could vote for a new Postmaster General.

The USPS board of governors has 11 seats.

          • 2 are held by the postmaster general and deputy elected by the board (Louis DeJoy and Douglas Tulino)
          • 2 are remaining Trump appointees
          • 5 are Biden appointees
          • 2 are vacant

Biden appointees already control the board and Biden could appoint 2 more
