He’s become a boogeyman when the real issue is Congress failed USPS for decades. Now they want to point a finger to save face, when it was their fault the whole time. If you do have a retort to the article’s claims, I’m interested to hear your take.
People are complaining that it will now take mail longer to arrive coast to coast, to which I say USPS wasn’t meeting their service obligations prior. The new plan is just the timing reality of the old operation, except now service will be more reliable.
People complain that he is consolidating facilities and cutting jobs, to which I say USPS loses money with their mandates. They cannot reduce service areas and they cannot increase rates on their own. USPS hands are tied in so many ways, that if you want to blame anyone, blame congress.
If you want your mail faster, or if you want more people employed by USPS then you need congress to authorize things like banking services, or Congress has to pony up taxpayer money.
USPS is hamstrung by congress, and anyone with a problem need not look past their congressional representatives.
