    slaps knees

    okay. enough decadence.

today’s goal: give the house a basic cleaning, reply last week’s email, take a walk and buy a little food
optional: fill out a form / look up a set of instructions / update my CV

Can anyone tell me how much packaging material Ikea generally use with their products? I’ve got a bunch of things coming on Saturday and am wondering how much packaging I’m going to end up wrangling.

Awesome. I can use some extra cardboard to go under some mulch in the garden to keep the weeds down in a few spots 🙂

I think you said lots of shelves? Plenty big cardboard! Grab some U pins and you’re done with mulch for the year.

Lots of flattish cardboard, some strapping, the occasional foam corner. Plastic bags on any fabric stuff usually have recycle bin appropriate numbers on them.

Paint is fun. People who sell the kit bits can be total Aholes. Apparently I don’t look like the sort of person who can afford to drop 15 on a stringer/rigger. Condescending ass.

It’s bin night tonight and there is a lot of disagreement in the street about which bin is due for collection. A lot of people will be disappointed tomorrow when their recycling is not collected.

A triumph of hope over reality. If enough of us put out our recycling, maybe the council will pick it up anyway …

Seems like we have the same bin cycle. Mine are out and so is the recycling bin.

If occasionally forget which one to put out but my neighbour reminds me of I get it wrong.

Going for a walk in the evenings in summer is very pleasant. Much easier to find the motivation when it’s daylight savings and nice weather.

Two and a half weeks of panadol and I think I am habituated. 🤬 And it’s just fucking panadol, nothing worth this mild groggy headache.

On a positive note sciatica is slowly getting better, with lots of rest I am comfortable.

About 20 years ago when I had my wisdom teeth out they sent me home with codeine. I didn’t need it but I was mellow for 4 days straight.

Now days if you have pain they tell you to just take panadol. BUT I’VE HAD THE GOOD STUFF. PANADOL DON’T WORK

the hospital gave me one endone and I basically had to stay there the whole 6 hours it was effective. Went home with nothing.

it seems to me unless you are dying patients get nothing

That isn’t right. I don’t know how to make them hand over the stuff that might work but just Panadol is bullshit. And “might” it is because you’ve got to try it to know… duh

Doctors are too scared to prescribe. But the problem is that people genuinely in need are left to suffer and have their ability to function affected because of ineffective pain managment. Surely there is a better way, eg to risk assess a patient, prescribe smaller pack sizes etc. It’s not right that people cannot get their medical conditions treated in the age of modern medicine due to some blanket idea that everyone will misuse the medication. There is currently a government inquiry into women’s pain that is taking submissions: https://www.health.vic.gov.au/public-health/inquiry-into-womens-pain-submissions

I got put on Panadol osteo for chronic pain. 8 tablets a day. Did nothing for pain, but give me epic diahrrea. Stopped taking it when I got out of hosp. Unfortunately everything else has intolerable side effects (breathing difficulty, extreme dizziness etc).

I’ve been reading the reddit for sciatica. The untreated suffering is terrible. 😔 I’m lucky, I’m going to be better in 2 weeks, there are people who are long term disabled by pain, young people, and they get no relief.

Started using bonito flakes or dropping treats into the bowl to entice Melbcat to eat her medicated meals…

She will now walk away from served food and start slamming the wardrobe door or waiting in the kitchen for ‘food’ if it doesn’t have enough tasty toppings on it. I also have to add the treats in front of her, sometimes an extra one just to convince her they’re in there. I’m being hustled. She is utterly spoilt.

I’m feeling pretty rotten, kind of just lying down watching videos.

Somebody is going back to the vet on Saturday, wondering if I’ve got the energy to wash and prepare the trays to get a sample.

Apparently ‘Mr Catfish’ (bloody hell that sounds odd!) wants to join Lemmy. Now where am I supposed to put neurotic overthinking gift posts about the anniversary he’s about to forget?

Just throw a few dollars to the fundraising acount and I’m sure you’ll be fine. I suggest you go for something opposite your current name to avoid suspicion. Dogloaf perhaps.

Hahaha I honestly wouldn’t know if you had a fifth account. I just wanted to help you get back into the account you had rather than have to make account(s) you didn’t really want.

If you want a new account, I have no issues with that.

While everyone’s accounts are connected to email addresses, I have to log into the database directly to query that table. It isn’t a part of my regular UI. The only thing we use those email addresses for is sending password resets. I neither know nor want to know anyone’s email beyond helping them access their accounts.

My husband joined when we had that lemmy problem to help me work out how to get back in. He made a comment and was so proud of himself (his first time ever on social media) until I explained he actually made a post instead of a reply to my comment. He has made no more attempts.

I am looking to get a bike to go for rides with my daughter (and ride to work), are the Fluid bikes from Anaconda any good? They look to have good reviews on the site. Unfortuntely they don’t have any in stock where I am so I can’t even try it out.

They’re pretty cheap but for riding with a kid I expect they’ll be fine. Hard rubbish or second hand there’s a heap of cheaper options. I’ve fixed up a few beaters for friends to with their kids.

If you enjoyed the silliness of the Kingsmen movies, Argylle might be for you. Or if you just want a couple of hours of enjoying a fine-as-hell Bryce Dallas Howard doing her thing.

Oh no, thr little bittergourds that I thought weren’t bitter, are in fact bitter :( I picked firm, hard, green ones but actually should’ve gone for the softer and darker ones. Ideally they would be turning orange.
