Oh for pete’s sake. My aunt who I saw on Monday was trying to clean out things from her house on Thursday and slipped on some gum leaves on her steep and uneven front steps and hit her head on the ground. Had a bit of minor whiplash. She’s been resting all weekend thankfully. Once I’ve finished moving I’ll go offer to help my aunt and uncle with moving crap outside. After reading about Bottom_racer’s mum I’m not to keen on them risking another fall. They have two grown children who have no interest in helping…

      I hope she’s ok Kitten.

If she’s got any signs of dizziness, vision problems all of sudden she needs to go see a doctor about a possible concussion.

I’m hoping it wasn’t too bad of a fall and impact.

I think she’s okay given that the fall was on Thursday and she has been resting since. But I’m wary of her having another fall in the coming week, I hope she is very careful. She and my uncle feel like they have to do everything themselves because they are (a) frugal and (b) unable to rely on their kids for help, but it’s not worth a fall.

Gone through all my clothes, culled about 30% - half in the bin, half to the op shop. Nearly all the other clothes are packed. As are the hangers, and all my paper bags and bubble wrap has been consolidated. Plus two loads of laundry.

Cooked up a big dish of pasta with white bean, roast pumpkin, salmon, zucchini and baby spinach for the next three days, and some dal for tonight.

Far out I’m exhausted, that’s enough for me today. Next task is to consolidate all the bits and bobs hiding in drawers all over the place. And move all my boxes somewhere out of the way.

I’m hungry. Being hungry makes me indecisive. So I can’t decide what to have for dinner. This is a problem.

I potted two more zucchini plants out into bigger pots. Trying to decide whether to keep 6 or keep it at 4.

If I keep 6 I will need more potting mix… I still need the stakes too. It seems easier to get tomato stakes and put them in the pots so everything is freestanding. Plus if I need to move them there’s minimal disturbance to the vines.

The potting mix isn’t a problem. That’s too heavy to get stolen (I hope). The stakes though incur a $25 delivery fee… I probably have to enlist help there.

The pet shops are also giving me a hard time about delivering to a friend’s address. I forced myself out for the treats and Zylkene but hate doing it and the local doesn’t have her biccies. I’d sort a parcel locker but ran into issues

4 zucchini plants will feed a family of 10 and have enough left over to put in a still to be boiled down for illegal alcohol. 6 - um probably too many for just one person. I’d go for 2 only I think.

Ah ok good call! I am growing it to give to someone with a family and can probably anonymously gift excess to a dumping/exchange area…

I’ve just planted many seeds and potted out 4 of the largest in case I failed at gardening

        Edit: I’ve created a monster haven’t I

Zucchs are monsters. The problem with gifting extras is that when ones own zucchs come up ripe, so are everyone else’s. Illegal alcohol is your friend here. Still, having an extra or two on the go in case of snail/slug invasion is a good idea.

            Oh no… I don’t even drink alcohol.

I’ll leave it at the 4 I already planted out and ‘donate’ the other plants. I just wanted to do something constructive and help feed people 😭

I wanted to plant mini pumpkins too but will likely have my hands full as is.

Small/mixed seed bundles should be a thing

@TheWitchofThornbury @melbaboutown whassisname who did the Prairie Home Companion radio show did a bit about late summer being the only time in Lake Wobegon when you had to lock your car, because if you didn’t, you would come back and find a box of zucchinis on the back seat.

Yup. Fully agree. About 15 years ago I kept my horse over summer in a small paddock in EBrunswick down by the creek. The council made me keep a covered skip for the horse manure, which was fair enough I reckon. I loaded it up every day as per council regulations, but NEVER had to empty it, as the contents would mysteriously vanish overnight and boxes of tomatoes and other garden vegetables would miraculously appear in my horse’s shelter shed. A sort of black economy of horse manure/vegies, all without one word being said. I kinda miss that.

Did you see the news article a few years ago where this happened to a gardener in Germany - but an aerial photographer (too early for drones) saw it and called in the bomb squad cos they thought it was unexploded munition from WW2. Lots of egg on face all round when the bomb squad arrived to deactivate it.

My local council election results are in. The independent-but-member–of-the-Liberal-party candidate won, with a narrow member over the independent-but-maybe-corrupt candidate. Hopefully this means I can stop looking at the candidate’s names and getting “Mr Brightside” stuck in my head (as the other candidate’s name is Emily Brightside) 🤣

They’re still counting in my electorate. In my ward nobody got more than 50% of the vote so they’re still divvying up the preferences.

Mine got to about 43% & 46% with first preferences, so just had to count enough of the third candidates preferences to get over the 50% line.

I think I’ve been ghosted by a couple more buyers. Grrr. I did sell the cotton reel holders though, so it’s not a complete loss. I’d just really like some of this big stuff to be gone!

No, my fridge collection is much larger, and I’m keeping them!

I probably should sell one of my chest freezers though ☹️

Mostly outdoor cupboards, camping equipment and (when I get around to sorting them out) some tools.

I’m sort of hoping someone rocks up overnight and steals all the cupboards, as they are unsecured in the front carport.

Work might be a bit stressful tomorrow, but I’m ready with receipts if anyone wants to have a go at me.

Fingers crossed. Would hate to have things fall apart right now.

I hate opening a new bottle of something to find those stupid fucking plastic ring pulls. And if they happen to break while pulling then it takes all my courage not to throw the thing. 🤬
