the pokémon red/blue soundtracks are some of the finest music ever created. gold and silver as well.
Celadon City from the Pokémon games
I was thinking the ghost tower or cave music from R/B/Y
boring in comparison, Celadon City is truly one of the greatest melodies I know of in any game
Funnily enough, I hated it. I would rush to get on my bicycle. It was just too happy for me! Lol
The music from Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues is pretty banger:
Final Fantasy Legend 2. Great battle theme!
Probably Final Fantasy Legend 2 or Zelda: Link’s Awakening. I still have midi-format versions of those sitting around.
I wouldn’t specifically recommend that someone go back and dig them up, though, if they haven’t played them and aren’t just wanting the nostalgia value.
For the Game Boy, I think that the technical limitations on the audio hardware really keep it from being competitive with larger systems, though. I mean, it’s impressive what they managed to do with the hardware in that era, but the SNES was a lot more capable.
I’m pretty basic, but Tetris and Duck Tales come to mind.
Pokémon Blue. That’s the stuff dreams are made of.
Gold Silver and Crystal also! Pokemon OSTs in general are pretty good.
I was actually listening to the Gold/Silver surf theme when I clicked into this thread, it’s pretty relaxing.
I fittingly listen to the SS Anne one a lot.
My hype-up song is the song that plays in the fight with Red. Works every time
“Pokémon the Trading Card Game” has such a genuinely good fucking soundtrack!
I really love the remixed themes in Pokemon Puzzle Challenge. The title opener is a bop also.
FYI, !patientgamers@sh.itjust.works had a nice thread about OST few days ago
I’m a big fan of the Kirby’s Dreamland soundtrack, particularly Green Greens and Dedede’s theme
Dr. Mario has a track called “Fever”. Still gets into my head every so often.
Shantae has a great soundtrack. You also can’t go wrong with any of the Gameboy Pokemon titles.
I second this
