So I put in a request to cancel my group fitness membership after the next billing. Will check out the local council gym and also another one to try and get my mum to come along.

So one of the clients I look after, is cracking the shits about something that I have no control over.

I really hope I don’t get scapegoated over this.

    Fingers crossed.

Indeed, I’ve been refreshing the news pages pretty often, at the moment it might be because of the safe seats and counting that has happened through the midband of the US, as it hits the west coast Harris should get more votes to balance it out but it’s not helping that Trump has won a few swing states already.

I really would have thought that a few of the safe seats would have flipped, considering how deranged he is and how many old-school Republicans have come out against him and endorsed Kamala.

It just goes to show that their Democracy has been so corrupted by decades of abuse that their elections no longer function.

Oh joy. Impending major restructuring at my workplace. No redundancies, more like the drive-the-people-remaining-to-breaking-point strategy.

My 11th year may end up being my last, time to dust off the resume and get the hell out of here :| At least I hit my LSL eligibility beforehand… :\

Oh noooo. Sorry to hear. Certainly brings up a lot of anxiety. What a shit way to restructure… I agree with taking your LSL as part of your plans. If they’re going to be merciless, so can you

have you taken LSL yet? I’d take it, disappear for a few months then take the redundancy they offer when you get back.

The LSL is banked with the intention of just taking the cash when I leave, on top of the 7 weeks annual leave I’ve also got sitting there.

They’re adamant there will be no redundancies, without coming out and saying it they’re definitely trying for reduction through attrition.

        See what happens I guess.

As @tinybreak infers, they may be trying to get people to leave so that they don’t have to payout redundancies.

If you take your LSL and AL, you can bypass all the issues. When you come back you will either be invaluable to them and be able to get a payrise, or they would have decided to issue redundancies after all and you can cash-in again. It is a gamble though.

I’ve received an absolute avalanche of requests today after listing stuff last night, god it’s overwhelming! Do you give preference to the person who replies first or the person who can buy the most stuff off you…

I give preference to anyone who can give the soonest time to pickup, preferably telling me their preferred pickup timeframe in the initial message. I honestly don’t care that much about the price, I just want stuff gone quickly with as little fuss as possible. So the more questions I have to ask/answer the less likely I am to sell.

Reliability over everything for me. I’d rather know that the person is 100% going to come at [x] time and buy [thing]. It doesn’t need to be today, I’ll wait until the weekend even. So long as I know when they’ll come and that they will for sure come at that time.

Having three people say they’ll come and then don’t turn up sucks. Do I hold out? Do I just go straight to the next person only to find out the first person turned up after all and now I’m shafting person #2? It’s all exhausting.

It’s hard to tell reliability in advance though. I tend to prioritise anyone who appears to have basic communication skills, which tend to be lacking in most people. If they ask questions that are covered in the listing or can’t manage to string together an actual offer to buy I tend not to bother with them.

I don’t do Facebook, so I don’t know how the marketplace thing works. In Gumtree, you can see ratings of people. “Quick Responder”, “Showed up on time” and “Polite” points account for a lot when I have a choice of buyers. If one buyer had a bunch of those and the other doesn’t, I’ll go with the one that does.

Yeah it probably is. I just have a weird feeling of fairness to the person who replies first (but tbf everyone’s messaged within like the span of an hour). Just sayin’, especially if your name starts with P and you’ve offered to grab two hydration related items at one time… 👀

So there’s now literal children buying anti-aging products like retinol and there’s a hair disclosing spray so women can completely defuzz their whole faces?

People are getting preventative Botox and giving themselves gastroparesis by using Ozempic and 20 year olds are either removing the fat from their cheeks or getting fillers? Celebrities with slightly crooked teeth are getting full veneers or caps?

Earlier periods of history got a bad reputation for their rigid beauty standards and rightfully so but I feel like it’s all much more out of control now because internet. Modern beauty standards are insane.

I had a bunch of random fruits shoveled into my bag at the free food market today. Including gold kiwi fruit that I don’t really like, so this afternoon’s job will be kiwifruit chutney. I’ll also chop up the peaches for the freezer (they are generally a bit bruised and not great for eating fresh).

I also got some chicken to roast and lots of salad kits, so meal prep has pretty much sorted itself out for the next few days!

Just as a little moment of grounding… What are we all having for dinner on this sombre evening? I gotta use up my other half tin of coconut cream, so I’m going to do a rich tomato curry with tvp balls that I also need to use up. Along with the leftover everything-in-one veggie and dal curry and boiled eggs my aunt gave me.

Frozen fried rice heated in the microwave - a real cbf dinner. Now the cool change has come through I NEED CALORIES! Had a nice salad for lunchies with some gorgeous red grapes after - grapes rn are pretty wow. These were intensely sweet and almost musky - very much muscatel vibes but juicy. Best I’ve had for a long time.

My cat’s heart isn’t working well and he doesn’t have a great prognosis, but he’s well and happy in himself and I’m focusing on that. We’ll be ok.

I’ve just ordered takeaway for the first time in yonks. Fried goodness is now on the way to me and in the meantime I’ve poured a glass of wine. I will enjoy it and not wallow.

And I’m putting my fingers in my ears and ignoring the news out of the US.
