Of course, it’s not like they are scrambling to actually try and stop the shootings…

Whatever happened to the idea of not publishing the names of mass shooters, as a way of denying them the fame/ attention that they want? Seems like that was a good idea. Did I miss something?

Drama sells better. It’s just that simple. Plus, someone else is probably gonna publish the name(s), so try to get that info out first to beat other outlets.

The Harris campaign knows how to clapback real hard, that’s for sure. The Trump campaign’s words, even with all the relevant context included, speak for themselves.

well, i suppose that’s a decent thing to do.

i mean, it saves somebody I probably don’t hate from having to change his diapers. like the generic staffers around him.

Yeah, the Harris campaign is twisting what’s been said. He’s admitting that this is a fact of life. Not in the sense of “death and taxes” but this is just what our country is facing in 2024. He’s not wrong. School shootings are a fact of life.

The actual problem I have with his comment is that he’s saying “our schools are soft targets and we have got to bolster security at our schools so that a person who wants to walk through the front door and kill a bunch of children, they’re not able to”.

Vance, you’re 40 years old. Maybe you don’t remember a time when children didn’t have to worry about people walking around with assault rifles threatening their lives in school. I promise you, it wasn’t that long ago that schools were safe places. Really - I graduated HS in '95. It was the following year that the school posted security on site. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in school today where you literally need to wear bullet proof backpacks. This is the kind of world I think of when I think of the USSR during the Cold War.

Bolstering security at schools is not a solution. It’s a bandaid. You’re not fixing anything (you’ll be a great politician). I really don’t understand why the vast majority of politicians are so poor at solving problems.

George Bush the first called Dan “potatoe” Quayle the Jose Canseco of politics.

JD is making him look like it in comparison.

I am trying to find this, because I’d love to see the context, but I can’t seem to get it. Weirdly, I could have been certain I clicked on a story talking about it, but I went back because of an uncloseable cookie banner and duck duck go changed the results.
