I see you didn’t read my post. I said they go scorched earth on this. If there’s 100 million russians today, then by the end of the invasion there are 0 russians. They kill literally every single person.
To your second point, right now Russia is best described as “a gas station that happens to be a country”. Which means if they own the land, they own the resources, but with Chinas infrastructure, they could use that grip on 80% of the worlds oil to basically have the rest of the world by the balls. If they sat back and watched Russia piss away their economy and military, sure they gain some advantage by being able to gouge on trade, but they gain so much more if they own everything that Russia could have traded.
