Harris says she would appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if elected

In a clip of a CNN interview scheduled to air in full Thursday night, Harris said she was committed to welcoming diverse points of view.

“I have spent my career inviting diversity of opinion. I think it’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences,” Harris said. “And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”

    Some people in comments advocating for Kinzinger because he is anti trump but ignoring he is also anti healthcare, in support of targeting sanctuary cities, supported the assassination of Soleimani, is a global warming denier or at the very least against any action to slow it down and I could go on. This support of a ghoul is making me suspect many of you run off vibes and don’t care about actual policy in the slightest.

      I can’t imagine she’d appoint someone like this to head up policy on healthcare or energy. He lead policy on something her and him were aligned on. Maybe the VA.

          He could ruin the VA by forcing deregulation and making the VA into another for-profit system. He could force the sale of VA Hospitals to investment bankers.

          Just because a person is a veteran doesn’t mean they want to keep the VA system whole. Does he even use the same healthcare that poor enlisted soldiers and sailors use?

        No. Some positions have cabinet-level ranks (not press secretary) like chief of staff, but being on the cabinet itself requires being the head of one of the major administrative departments. Pretty much any of them can do significant damage with the wrong person installed.

      It’s because Trump and the magas have turned our politics into such a clownshow that somehow no one remembers Republicans were already racist bigots even before him. They were just more polite about it.

      How about for Kinzinger “Secretary of Veteran Affairs”? A quick google search says that Kinzinger is an Air Force veteran (an officer even) and even the most staunch anti-healthcare advocate seems to support healthcare for ex-service members through the VA. All of those problems you listed seem to be insulated from Veterans Affairs.

        Why give him any power if you disagree so much given how much he is for deregulation I wouldn’t trust him to follow any policy. Not to mention for example while for a republican he is good on LGBT issues though that isn’t saying much he has a history of opposing a lot of bills and claiming to do so in order to protect religious freedoms not really explaining in a clear way what that means.
