For example, for me, I would *love* a new Populous game based from what was done in Populous 3. That, and a new SimCity based on SimCity 4!
Unreal Tournament
YEEESSSSS!!! Man I love this game!!
Man, to think Fortnite, of all things, killed UT. Very sad
Splitgate really fumbled pivoting to a loadout based shooter instead of the arena style from the first game
Chibi Robo!
Even just a remaster would be awesome
I’ve heard a fair bit about this game, but never really played it. I may try to get a copy for my Steam Deck. Which one would you recommend for a first timer?
KOTOR
Have you ever played swtor? It’s a lot like kotor 3 in many respects.
But online and grindy
This is my number one pick as well. Just keep it the fuck away from Disney.
I recently started my 1st replay since I was a kid. Loving it on the steam deck, battery lasts forever with the old gem!
Nice choice! Would you like them to start afresh or would you like them to continue on from a specific game?
I think the Revan storyline is about tapped out, so starting a fresh story is probably the way to go. but I’m open to anything.
Infamous. I don’t know why the series just disappeared after Infamous Second Son, I feel like we could’ve gotten way more in that universe. While they’re at it they should port Infamous 1 & 2 to modern consoles…
Came to say inFamous, but specifically picking up after the evil ending in 2. The way that frames it could allow for character customization, and maybe even getting to choose your powerset.
It could even have multiplayer elements if that’s where they wanted to go with it. Not sure how well PvP would work out, but co-op missions could be fun. But, it could work just fine without any of that
PvP would probably go poorly, making a single player studio create multiplayer games is bad.
Unless they themselves really want it.
They are making too much money with ghost of tsushima lol
:(I would love to have them on PC. Honestly why Sony doesn’t port all their old catalog (Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter etc.) is beyond me. That would get them so much money.
I loved the first 2 games. inFamous 2 is probably a top 5, definitely top 10 game for me. Festival of Blood is one of my favorite DLCs as well.
I didn’t finish Second Son.
Ah man! What a great choice!
It looks like the studio was behind Ghost of Tsushima, so here’s hoping further down the PS5’s lifecycle we get a sequel!
A good comment& conquer game
Is that an online propaganda troll simulator?
Nostalgy drive engaged !
The Crusader series (No Remorse, No Regret) could have been built upon, with its famously cheesy live-action cutscenes.
The Quarantine series disappeared after its second installment, Road Warrior. Come to think of it, most mainstream vehicular combat games went away, like the Interstate series.
The Discworld adventure games (1, 2, Noir) were famously convoluted, but they did a pretty good job of adapting Pratchett’s world into video games.
Finally I would have liked to play the initially planned sequels to Advent Rising. I have (probably rose-tinted) fond memories of that game, but hey, you asked.
As written, this is a tough one to answer. I’m well served in most genres bar a few, and I probably wouldn’t want to see new entries from the people who made the old ones. For instance, I miss stealth games and Splinter Cell, but I wouldn’t want Ubisoft to make it. I would love to see a new Metal Arms, but Blizzard (and now also Microsoft) owns that one. I miss racing games like Burnout and F-Zero, but I wouldn’t trust EA or Nintendo to make a successor that makes me happy. So really, I think I want new stuff that’s more of a spiritual successor type of deal.
I’ve been wanting a new, proper Splinter Cell for years. Michael Ironside is cancer free now and still alive for a couple more years (hopefully). I dream of Sam Fischer getting a final send-off with the correct voice actor. “One final job” with him old and grey. But yeah, Ubisoft wouldn’t make it right, sadly.
None. We need less rehashes and more fresh IPs.
Post like this slow progress by letting devs think we want the same shit over and over.
I want to see an adaptation of Naked Lunch as a video game that starts out as a hard-boiled neo-noir detective game, becoming a surreal waking nightmare much like the book, and ending with becoming an endless randomly-generated flight from the cops as you evade pursuit for accidentally killing your wife during a game of William Tell.
This has to be a point-and-click adventure, Sierra-style.
so you think developers are just setting aside great new ideas because of random internet posts? gimme a fucking break.
I’ve got probably 9,000 hours on different variants of the Civ franchise over my lifetime, assuming I played Civ V and VI the same amount as the other four. I’ve got 1,600 hours in Factorio and probably the same amount in KSP.
My point being that some of us kinda do want the same shit over and over.
I haven’t really played since 4 but I played 1-4 quite a bit.
And people like you are slowing the progress of gaming.
If you want to play a game you used to like, just play it.
Which means I wouldn’t be buying new games, which means game makers don’t have a market, which means no more new games.
Have you made any games?
No One Lives Forever! Please and thank you.
Also, only a single game, but: Arcanum. At least this one’s possible to buy on Gog and Steam…
Such a shame NOLF is so deeply mired in rights disputes that we’ll probably never even get a digital rerelease, let alone a sequel.
I keep hearing that, but it seems like if there was a market for a 60s-themed spy game, someone would make a game that’s totally starring Kat Bowman who is an agent for ACCORD.
Sadly it’s probably more that uh, there isn’t and now I’m going to go sad replay NOLF again.
A friendly reminder to everyone: there is a fan project, part 1 and 2 updated to run on modern systems. They have their own page, the full games can be downloaded from there, and they just work. Just Google the title and fan update.
Which is what the NOLF link in my post points to.
Edit: no that’s just NOLF revival. I suppose I shouldn’t change it now, and thanks for posting ☺️
Nonono, that’s it!!! I totally missed the link :)
After fiddling with my original CDs back two years I gave up and installed these! Wide-screen, stable, high resolutions, perfect! I was so happy fans decided to get them running again!
Me too! My original discs for the sequel was unreadable even before I got to play it (it was a hand-me-down).
I also found this mod on itch as well, after your post. I think I had to edit the configs to get the resolution writing for Nolf2 even on the revival copy (and, save files from different resolutions don’t load!) If this patch can work around those issues that’d be great.
Time for another playthrough of the series, on the Steam Deck!
Just give me a new Deus Ex game please.
Glad I wasn’t the first one to suggest it. It’d be so much better if they finish it off and provide the missing gap to the original game.
Yes please, one close to the original <3
Cyberpunk scratched that itch for me to a surprising degree. It’s not a perfect match, but it felt closer to the original than the sequels did somehow.
Given how well that game sold, it’s even more baffling that we don’t seem to be getting another Deus Ex. Don’t they like money or something?
They do like money. That’s why they made two shitty prequels.
Titanfall. Proper Titanfall.
Yes please. I personally preferred the slower PvP of the first game, but the campaign we got in Titanfall 2 was incredible. Really with they would revisit that franchise.
This. Titanfall 2 has ruined my taste in FPS forever. Nothing ever comes close for me
And there were some really great levels in the campaign, that was a fun game
I just want more 2D Castlevania games. It’s been forever.
Well, there was Bloodstained which is castlevania with everything but the name. Same lead gamedev, too.
Bloodstained is fun. I’m also enjoying Deaths Gambit
Definitely this. It seems MVs with a leveling system either aren’t popular, or are too hard to balance. Plus there’s the giant inventory of weapons and gear that would probably be too time-consuming to create for most game devs.
Mass Effect. Either abandon/re-do thr Andromeda storyline.
I liked Andromeda the game more than most but I really didn’t like Andromeda the galaxy as a setting. I’d prefer to go back to the milky way with the species from the original games. Maybe set in the future after a major political upheaval or something.
Yea I’m not married to the Andromeda storyline either.
I personally think a mass effect prequel game about the first contact war (or whatever the war was between the humans and the Turians) would be the most interesting.
the only issue I have with that is it would be a step backwards in alien varieties, especially in your party. For me one of the best parts of ME was the feeling of being part of a galactic community, walking around the citadel with a bunch of different aliens, etc.
Well I think it could lead into that. But fair enough.
Mass Effect Halo Wars?
A proper Thief sequel would be nice.
Came here for this!
- Brandish, based on Brandish II
- Kuon, based on Kuon
- Clock Tower, continuing from Clock Tower 3 but actually good
- SimCity, based on the original.
- Neon Genesis Evangelion, based on Neon Genesis Evangelion 2: Evangelions
- Record of Lodoss War, based on the Dreamcast game
- Policenauts, but only Kojima can be the one to make the next game
- Tresspasser, based on the original
- Danganronpa, but more like the first 2 and not v3, though I wouldn’t mind another try at Ultra Despair Girls with an actually decent story
- John Romero’s Daikatana
- MechAssault
- XENON - 夢幻の肢体 (XENON - Fantasy Body), I wouldn’t mind seeing a remake in the style of something like Life is Strange or a similar type of story game for this one, though I would demand it keep the original 90s art style
MechWarrior 5 is a lot of fun
Yeah, it is, but it is fundamentally different from MechAssault. MechWarrior is a simulator and MechAssault is an arcade shooter. Its like the difference between Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon, theyre both fun but they’re also very different games.
The Brandish games have such a good soundtrack, I especially love the one in Dark Revenant! It’s also such a cool concept, you could easily make a modern game with that type of premise.
Are you the only person that likes Daikatana? I thought that game was pretty universally panned. I haven’t played it myself, mostly because all I’ve heard is how bad it is.
Remaking a good game is stupid. Remake the bad games and give them another chance at success.
I would definitely want a reboot of Daikatana more than a direct continuation. Daikatana has a lot of cool ideas that just weren’t realistically achievable when it came out, but certainly now are pretty easy to implement with modern development tools. The game has been “off the market” so to speak for so long that making a sequel would be stupid compared to just rebooting it entirely.
Didn’t know lodoss war had a game. Fuck yes
