Even if you were right about the conclusion that both parties shame people because of who they are, that doesn’t remotely make the parties the same for everything. This is like the people who say they’re tired of the Democratic party so they’ll be voting Republican…the stance on so many issues is like night and day, how can they be “the same”? Democrats have their problems, and I myself prefer the more progressive members (that are growing), but to throw it all out because of a few disagreements and go full “the other side” is crazy.
Vote for whomever, it’s your right, but I’ve never been a fan of the Green Party in all its past faces, or Libertarians, or many others because of the same reasons. You don’t go to a different party because you’re mad at another one, you go because you think they have a better position on issues. I don’t think any of those minor third parties ever have, even if Democrats aren’t perfect. Change the party from the inside, don’t switch teams. Especially in a First Past the Post system where the math is always going to prevent you changing what you think you’re changing.
I will say I do see your point you started with, and I try to keep the high road in my own life because I see personal attacks as missing an opportunity to call out the real problems. One can still take that direction and not get into the slinging matches and still call out people being liars and hypocrites. I wouldn’t jump ship just because some other Democrat voters go lower…it’s not even the party you’re arguing with, but other citizens that happen to be probably favoring that party.
Thank you. I didn’t jump ship just because of this. I have been a 3rd party supporter for a while, and the Green Party aligns with more of my values.

I did in the primaries. Because I felt that he might be able to make a difference while using the Democrat flag to have that power. If he had run as independent I wouldn’t have though. Like I said, I’m hopeful only because of the gradual change within the House to a more progressive membership, slowly but surely, and that’s the only way we’ll ever get true change both in the nation and in the party. My optimal dream is to have the Republican party splinter apart and lose power, allowing the Democrats to also separate into its own different stances, but that’s going to really need a change in a voting system to be more than a singular event.
Sure, but meh, that’s part of democracy. I don’t mind their being opposing parties. I don’t like that there are just TWO of them that people seem to think are the only options. So I’m not being a part of that, and I’m voting for who I think is the best fit.
