My filling that I got on Monday started hurting at about 8pm yesterday. It’s odd. I didn’t have any pain on Tuesday, obviously didn’t have any on Monday (half my face was numb), and on Wednesday I only had a little bit that was easily fixed with a Panadol. This one isn’t so lucky. And it seems to have been timed nicely with feeling a bit blegh.

Hopefully I have a good sleep, and a good sleep fixes it

    Gratitude thread ✨️

Grateful for female friendships! Not being upset like I was a year ago because my ex was too busy to talk to me. The sun. Dog attempting to wake me up twice, potentially because someone has either left the house or arrived.

This one is Eastern Food Rescue, which grew out of a Food is Free cupboard in Mitcham. There are a number of Food is Free cupboards around the place too which have free food at random times. The food is primarily stuff that is going to be thrown out from supermarkets and bakeries, so the quality can be variable.

@LowExperience2368 @Seagoon_ Female friendships are the best ☺️

(The only catch for me is I tend to be someone people come to with problems. So there’s been days when my bestie has come to me with troubles, and then my other bestie, and then mum, and then wifey 😫.)

      Anyways. Grateful thoughts.

One of the ways wifey and I split jobs is that I do the dishes at night and she, in theory, puts them away every morning.

In practice, most days I end up doing it.

      Well…

A couple of days ago, I waited to see how long it would take for her to do it.

      6pm — nope. 7pm. 8pm.

Are you going to put them away? “In a minute!”

      9pm. 10pm.

Eventually it gets to midnight. Still not put away and she’s fast asleep.

So I put them away. At midnight. I might have made a bit more noise than usual in the process.

She wakes up: “Why are you doing that now? It’s midnight!”

Oh sorry, it got to midnight and the dishes still weren’t put away from this morning, so I’m doing it…

      Anyways.

I woke up this morning, and the dishes were all in the drawers.

      Grateful ☺️

    Anti-gratitude thread

The delayed phase sleep syndrome I’m dealing with. Even when I’ve woken up early and gotten shit sleep, I can’t seem to fall asleep early. Going to the pharmacy to get my hands on some schedule 3 meds.

How do you even get diagnosed with DSPD in this country? I always get Drs and psychiatrists telling me to go to sleep earlier and be very dismissive when I ask for sleep tests done. Normal sleeping pills don’t work at all for me, the best tools I have are agomelatine, clonidine, and cannabis (all taken together if I need to force a sleep bc of society).

Anyways, I’m not grateful for dismissive doctors who think I am trying to get pills off of them to abuse. Also fuck my sleeping disorder!

Yes fuck your sleep disorder :(

I didn’t get diagnosed with it, but I think I have a delayed phase thing going on. It might not be disorder level, because I’m not sleeping at a mega ridiculous time, but my rhythm is just kinda in shock and I haven’t been to sleep before midnight probably in about two years.

I think it’s more a bad habit per se. Although no matter what time I wake up one day, I will still not be able to fall asleep. It’s strange.

I’ve only tried melatonin (gives me poor quality sleep) and weed (give me poor quality bank balance) for my DSPD. Is there anything else you might recommend?

Ungrateful that my filling seems to get really painful when I eat/drink anything hot or cold. I think eating dinner is what brought on the pain yesterday. Had similar pain today after I drunk some cold water and let it over to the left side of my mouth. Apparently I just need to avoid eating anything warmer than room temperature for the next 2 weeks, when apparently it’ll fix itself 🤷‍♂️

That sounds like the nerve is irritated. Not fun, but at least it means your tooth is still alive and you don’t need to go down the whole root canal route.

Yeah. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m super thrilled that my teeth aren’t fucked beyond repair. I’m pretty good about brushing my teeth at least once a day now, but I went an extremely long time with only sporadic teeth brushing. I’m sure I’ll end up paying for that in the future

(Wtf Medicare, cover tooth and psychological care better you gronks)

I am ungrateful for it being really hard to get replacement brushes for my robovac. It’s cheaper to get a whole new unit of a different brand. Intentional Design obsolescence pisses me off!

The straws cold rock used to have for their loaded mega shake things were the best. They were very large, large enough to be able to drink the chunks of kit kat or crunchie or whatever you put in them. The paper straws are too thin and get jammed

I went to donut king to get a shake thing a couple of months ago and even though I only got a medium, the straw disintegrated half way through. I went to the lady and asked for a new one, and she said “we still have plastic straws. I’m not allowed to offer you one, but if you ask, I am allowed to give you one”. Makes sense, and made me wonder if I should try my luck elsewhere. Iirc some places still stock them for people with disabilities, but they’re not obligated to check people’s disabilities (and if someone had an invisible disability that genuinely prevented them from using a paper straw, the store had them, and the person just looked at them and said “you don’t look disabled, so I’m not going to give you a plastic straw”, that’s probably a discrimination lawsuit. But in any case, since it’s an exemption targeted to people with disabilities, I’d feel too guilty about using it when I don’t need to, to really use it, so I guess it’s irrelevant

I came across an unopened box of 1,000 plastic straws in the party supply crate recently. I don’t know what to do with them. Maybe hold onto them for a bit and then donate them to a museum in a decade or two?

They’d only work with soft drinks. They’re too thin for thick shakes. They are bendy, though. Give it another few years and the novelty of bendy straws will likely blow the kids’ minds.

I ordered a pack of 500 of those thin stripey ones from AliExpress a few months ago, because I needed to spend 15 bucks to get free shipping for new headphone earcups. I feel bad because I actually threw them all away. They smelt funky and the plastic they came in was yellowed and dusty
