Honestly the death of the Republican Party (assuming they don’t manage to take democracy down with them, which still isn’t proven) might be the best thing for real, for real, for America – if the only way they can hold on to any power at all is to switch us to a parliamentary system, that might be the US catapulting into the 1900s in terms of how to do voting right.

RCV I think will destroy them, though. Pretty much all they have left is trying to unify all the crazy people under one tent and voter suppression, at this point. If you knock out one of those pillars then it’s not much left other than “the state legislature can declare whoever it wants the winner, and the secretary of state says who wins the election for state legislature.”

Speaking of voter suppression, if we can deliver a powerful mandate this time, we absolutely need campaign finance reform to reduce the power of money in politics and legislation to protect the right to vote. Biden helped steer the economy back towards stability and made some investments in the future, now electoral reform desperately needs to be the very top priority moving forward. We can’t do shit about shit if the repubs can just walk away with every other election due to their business support and voter suppression.

I hope we don’t get distracted from this, it’s the most critical priority. We also have nothing to lose by playing the hardest hardball possible, since they’re accusing us of great replacement crap in the mainstream now anyway.

It’s actually really debatable which side RFK is drawing more from, it’s gone back and forth. Same with the Libertarians this year, there’s been an internal shakeup and Chase Oliver is a democrat, but most of the base leans right, but not all of them especially the quieter ones.

The Constitution Party is still firm right and the Greens and PSL are still firm left, albeit even then outside of the PSL there’s *'s on that(The Greens are pro-Russia and the Constitution Party guy was a democrat for one year after a decade as a Republican).

I wonder how possible it would be to sway a genuine Green by pointing out how much Russian oil refinery production has been taken offline by Ukrainian strikes. Every refinery they hit is a blow against global warming.

edit: Oh yeah, and Ukraine just recently shut down a major oil pipeline going into Hungary. That will put pressure to find alternative energy sources.

Russia is a major global producer of fossil fuels in general, though. That’s a very unnatural alliance with the Greens.

If you assume he’s legit(which maybe? I’ve heard rumors the leaks about him working with Trump were fake because the Republicans are panicking and fear he’ll siphon votes, some people blame the Dems, some people say it’s true, honestly all 3 are possible at this point though I lean to the first one) getting the Libertarians and whatever is left of the Reform Party with him is probably the best possible call for RFK.

There’s been a bit of a Libertarian revolt internally, the Colorado branch defected to Kennedy and the party’s been a bit directionless since Chase Oliver turned the party leftward and broke with the old Gary Johnson clique. And the Reform Party died when they lost Nader in 2005, they haven’t been relevant in years. There’s also a couple small state level parties joining RFK’s coalition who used to work with the Constitution Party so who knows what they’ll do. Every third party who isn’t the Green Party or PSL has some degree of interest in RFK Jr

Like if you support third parties in general aiming for the center(which RFK is given that both sides have accused him of being a spoiler) is the best bet, and getting the other 3rd parties in line helps. Interested to see if he can break the 5 percent funding margin to get on debates and get national funding. 2000 was the last election that was at play for anyone.

I’d much rather we had some more extreme third parties and a voting system that allowed them to exist.

The last fucking thing I want is someone trying to be “centrist” in the modern US political spectrum. I’m pretty sure if you looked at historical candidates you’d find Ronald Reagan would be defined as a centrist in the modern world.

We need to shift this broken ass Overton window back to the left.

Not if we managed to drop FPTP - but until then I agree that third parties are unfortunately spoilers. It gave us Woodrow Wilson a man generally considered our worst president before fucking Trump showed up.

His own song posted a video of him palling around on the phone with Trump about anti-vaxx bullshit. You come in here suggesting he’s NOT in league with Trump to siphon votes?

      Get lost lolz

Yeah, everyone knows that libertarians are way into big controlling governments, certainly libertarians will take away dem votes.

Seriously though, it’s so weird having so many vocal people who haven’t the slightest idea what they are talking about. I honestly wouldn’t be surprsomething. a few years there are a bunch of people going on about how the vp is and has always been the top office, certainly way above pres, that’s like 5th.

If you don’t know what you’re talking about, take some time to read. It will literally change your life if you leave teach mode when you are brand new to something.
