I don’t usually post political stuff, but I don’t see ANYONE talking about this, and I really believe if we don’t do this, we will hand the U.S. over to fascists.

Your vote matters. Most of you reading this know it. But the truth is that the left is HORRIBLE at getting out to vote. From what I’ve read, registered democrats outnumber repubs by 10-15%. Yet on average less then 70% vote. There exists an apathy towards voting in a portion of the left that assumes that they don’t need to vote because “who would vote for that idiot Trump?”. They assume it’s a done deal, and don’t bother.

THOSE are the people we need to target. We need to set up community activists whose only purpose is to make sure democrats either fill out a mail in ballot, or have a ride to the voting booths. Every democrat needs to take a friend or two with them. We need to make voting a communal act where we encourage, check up on, and practically insist on their vote.

I believe that if we DON’T do this, it WILL BE the END of democracy. We have the numbers. Now we just need to get them out to vote.

The non-profit I work for is pretty awesome, so I get election days off. Usually I vote first thing in the morning and then get hammered drunk (about the only times of the year I day-drink).

While traditions are fine and dandy, if you’re in my neck of the woods and need a ride to/from your polling place, I will stay sober and pick you up. No questions asked. If there’s time and you wanna stop at the grocery store on the way home, I’ll carry your groceries in for you. Whatever gets you out to the polls.

I wish my vote would matter, but i live in the south, Tennessee, and i never vote because i dont feel like it would mean anything. I wish i were wrong.

It does mean something, if every single one of you that thinks your votes don’t matter actually votes the south would change. I bet in your area some elections are won and lost by less then 1000 votes

Right, we had a plutocracy, but even the fiction of the fraction of democracy that we used to have was fairly good - e.g. it took 400+ years but black people are now perhaps 4/5ths rather than a mere 3/5ths of a person. Man, politics is depressing:-(.

Still, I suspect we will look back and wish that we had kept it, as opposed to the alternative we are heading for.

I have hope democracy prevails… But also a big feeling that the republicans have all their pawns lined up for a perfect storm this time (and half of them are still hidden), allowing them to be able to semi legally brush the election results aside. They had 6+ years to prepare…

Only a true landslide of blue votes might be able to give some of them pause, a small difference would be ignored and decided upon faster than Gore vs Bush.

Trump will declare a win regardless of the outcome.
