When I first used rEFInd I didn’t configure it and it still detected windows and arch. I only configured it to change the theme and to make adjustments to the kernel command line. It is a very simple bootloader that is advanced and has waaaaaay less CVE’s if not any.

I’m in the process of moving over to UKI and so will remove the bootloader entirely and at that point will just use UEFI boot loader (F12) to change OS/kernel.

I’m a lazy admin who’s been rolling this install since 2015 lol Maintaining a repo is just extra steps I don’t need, I’m happy to wgetpaste what I want to share when I want to and be done.

True but when people speak of rust being safe they actually mean the way it deals with memory and that it is harder to arbitrability view the mem space it uses unlike C and it’s children.

Suggest you run a small virtual lab to get your head around things.

It is doable, and there are articles out there about sysadmins running it with great success in a mixed environment.

Install parallels and then windows and play your games.

As an ex nvidia and recent amd user on Linux, I’d say wayland isn’t ready for gaming. X11 is still great, and wayland is the sand dunes of Linux in that they just move too fast for valve to adequately offer stable support. Also xwayland is really what’s running most games, and that is just another layer.

From the way linus framed what’s happening, 4 pcie lanes linking frame buffers between both gpus and this being Intel makes me think this will remain closed source but if it catches on we could well see open alternatives.

I don’t think open alternatives exist currently, though.
