  • Yeah, that’s gotta suck and I’m 100% not against people talking about who they are if they WANT to. What irritates me is the labels people are forced carry.

Like “wow a woman was finally able to achieve what men can achieve” or “wow this gay man was finally able to acheive what straight men can achieve” and that’s the part that annoys me

Eta: I think it’s meant well, but it implies that there’s something “special” about these people that allows them to climb the ranks previously reserved for a select group of people

So to truly be inclusive, things like “race” and gender and sexuality should be looked at as variations of normal, the same way hair color or height is looked at

2nd edit: Ok, sorry, but just to clarify I’m not harping on straight, white, males here. Swinging the pendulum the exact opposite way doesn’t help, either. I’m seeing this more as a societal thing that I’d liked to see changed

Yeaaah probably fake, but given that it could be easier to just get it back by asking rather than rescheduling patients, dealing with the police, and waiting for insurance to cover the expensive equipment it’s… possible that this is legit (probably not, but possible)

Yeah, every time I try to use any exercise equipment I get ANGRY. I feel WORSE than I did beforehand. No sense of accomplishment, no endorphines, just irritation

If I go for a walk where I can explore for miles, I’m happy. Dancing also makes my brain tingle. I get more joy out of vacuuming and other housework than a tredmil or elliptical machine.

F THAT! Feels pointless and I can’t seem to convince myself otherwise. Same for running. It’s meh unless I’m trying to get somewhere fast (and I already speed walk as it is)

  • Could be! I’ve spent the last 3 or so years with little to do but think, read, argue and watch youtube. I tend to watch mostly educational content, ranging from the big ones (“nile red”, “veritasium”, nutshell I can’t spell, “world science festival”) to lesser known ones (“sci-show”, “fall of civilizations”, “economics explained”, “donna” and a bunch of others). Robert Sapolsky is amazing, btw, look him up if you don’t already know who he is. But anyway, most recently I learned about the last 5 mass extinctions in a video by “paleo analysis”

    Anyway…

I think many people will die in the upcoming climate crisis (and are already dying) but I don’t think humanity itself will completely die out. I mean, we are not the pinnacle of evolution that some people would like to think, and we’re still changing and likely will continue to do so as our environment changes. But die out completely? Prrrrrobably not. As a species we’re highly adaptive (even though some idiots in power hold us back) and I think that at least enough of us will survive to continue the species.

Maybe not, but I think we have a shot that’s no more unlikely than anything else that’s happened so far
