I’m currently using thorium as an appimage and it is god enough. But to be honest if you want privacy use Firefox or a fork of it.

Yes it work with English content very well. You can rerout all your audio to it via helvum. The big problem is that it only has 3 languages supported English, French and Polish. So it technicality works but not in German unfortunately. But I can say now it partly works on Linux.
I am also thinking about hosting my own but that outch
Greenland is at 12,51% idk why but it is so I guess
You could also try to convert and install the .deb or .rpm packages see here as reverence
Or maybe use distrobox if this doesn’t work. Pretty much anything is better than chrome
So on their github are appimages, .rpm and .deb available. Idk if you can convert .deb or .rpm files to alpine compatible packages but the appimage should run eververe
I would recommend using librewolf thorium for normal task and if the site doesnt work with it i use thorium. Librewolf is slower than thorium but it is for me the better default version of Firefox. Loading yt is really slow with librewolf so I use freetube or invidious to watch content.
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope#status-of-gamescope-packages and i can conform on my fedora laptop it is there avalible in the repos to. I don’t have a HDR display if you don’t count in my phone.

I didn’t knew anything about him this is truely sad to hear
Ubuntu has gotten worse that it seams to was a few years ago. I didn’t use it outside of servers. Many don’t like the direction that ubuntu goes with snaps. But use whatever distro you want

Most of the time it isn’t about the kernel what is causing gaming problems it is most of the time other packages. I had problems with a few games on KDE neon what uses a ubuntu lts system as its base
So I have to use a windows machine for work. I can’t tell you how awsome wsl is. You can use any Linux package on wsl. If you are crasy enough you can even run desktop environments like xfce. All this with nearly native speed.
Of cource things links a KVM aren’t possible but nothing is nicer to just type wsl into your terminal and have your Linux distro of choice ready to go
