This is anecdotal, but I’ve known several people who immigrated and then chose to return to their home country. In at least one case, specifically because of the cost of living.

Funny how when China makes a bunch of cars it’s “over capacity” and needs 100% tariffs, but Japan has been doing the same thing for decades and no one batted an eye.

Anyone who works nights, or an evening job that runs late like a bar or something, is currently used to having the date change in the middle of their “day”. I don’t think it’s really that big of a deal. It would be super weird at first, but kids who grew up with it would find our current system just as bananas as we would find this.

I wasn’t really clear, but apathy is absolutely not my position. You can’t vote your way out of the system because so much more is required.

I always vote, it’s a very low-effort way to have a tiny bit of influence. I’m also in Canada where the system is a bit less worthless, for what that’s worth. But I don’t come home from the polling station all proud that I’ve done my part.
