Try Fedora I have been using “Fedora 38 Budgie” with a AMD Ryzen 5 7530U it has been great about 12-15 watts playing music, and web browsing. it is around 40 watts with GtkStressTesting.
Newer Kernels have power saving features also stuff H264 etc.
Using Mate, Variable refresh rate VRR, Wayland for Multi Monitor as Xorg is 99% Broken with Multi Monitor, and HDR/Color Profiles.
Mate i had far less issues with it.
Some of the newer Samsung Drives have bad firmware.
LMDE is 100% using Debian packages for the core OS if you want a newer Thunderbird go to flathub.

Mate has some Wayland support just the development died down.

LMDE is a backup plan, and Ubuntu is based on Debian Testing.
having multiple versions of the same package on Flathub the main ones i had issues with was Kdenlive, Zoom, and OBS.
Bcachefs as root is going to be sweet.
