That joke was…Mint?
That joke was…Mint?
I thought for sure that this was a joke, or that the gif of the drone sort of…pooping out that package was fake. But I found the same gif on Amazon’s PR website. This has got to be the dumbest possible way to get a package delivered…
Please try not to escalate comment threads that are already tense. Remember to be(e) nice. I think think it is understandable that someone might be frustrated with the regular, low effort responses to practically any mention of Windows or a number of other topics.
Hey, I totally get your frustration here, but in the future please keep in mind the primary ethos on Beehaw and try to be nice in your comments here. I sympathize with how irritating the constant barrage of “just install arch” as if that’s a simple fix for every problem, and I think it would be valuable for users on this forum to think about this before they comment, but let’s try to stay respectful and kind to other users. Thanks!
Let’s not start this kind of low-effort distro warring in the comments on Beehaw, please.
I don’t really mind. I created an alt on a larger lemmy instance a while back to subscribe to meme communities, and to be quite honest the comments are really bad, frequently as bad or worse than Reddit. I think Beehaw is just aiming for something different than other instances. Then again, I’m old enough to have been part of forums where the pace of discussions was much slower than most aggregator style sites are today so it doesn’t really bother me.
I’ve noticed this as well, and I have no idea where it’s coming from. If you see this on Beehaw, please report it, though, we’re definitely not okay with slurs of any kind.
We have one overarching rule on Beehaw: Be Nice. Please try to consider this when you comment on this instance in the future.

I dunno how many folks on Beehaw are into Knocked Loose, but this album is blowing me away. Every track is incredible. I was worried that the singles would be all of the good songs and the rest of the album would disappoint, but that isn’t the case at all.
I sympathize with you. I didn’t grow up catholic, but rather evangelical, but I can understand the realization that the people who taught you to love others have an ideology that is profoundly hateful. I remember the bewilderment and confusion that goes along with that realization. I didn’t leave the faith altogether, although at times it felt like I would, but I’m in a dramatically different place than I was a decade ago for sure.
All that to say that I understand at least a little of what you’re going through, and I’m sorry you’re grappling with this. It helped me to realize that there are believers out there that think differently, and that the transphobes, homophobes, racists, and reactionaries don’t own the faith.
Some of the decks and jokers you unlock change the game pretty dramatically.
I don’t think that’s necessary, just something to keep in mind going forward.
It’s a CYA thing for copyright infringement. Linking is fine, but hosting (we think) puts us on shakier legal ground, at least from what I understand.
Hi @hedge@beehaw.org, we’re starting to ask users not to paste full articles in the description or comments, there have been some concerns about this practice and we just want to try and head it off. I have no issues at all with linking to one of the several archive sites that will allow users to bypass paywalls, though.
I haven’t seen a lot of details about this program. What I’m most interested in is which forms it will support. One of my frustrations is that a lot of tax prep services advertise “free” efile, but almost all of them only allow it for the 1040EZ which is very narrow, and most adults will have to file at least a 1040 and probably will need additional forms as well.
One of the things that I think is probably about Kraftwerk and other electronic music is that often their synths are very slightly detuned so that intervals aren’t perfect and sounds that aren’t perfectly consonant. This gives it a “crunchier”, more complex sound that is more pleasing than sounds that are perfectly in tune/in phase with each other.
Ah yeah, location probably makes a big difference. Cost of Living is waaaay lower here, but so is median income so 🤷♂️
Please refrain from name calling on Beehaw. Our one rule is “Be(e) Nice” and I’d like to ask you to reconsider how you are engaging in this discussion.
No worries. I don’t think anybody in the comments here have crossed any lines yet; I’m just trying to defuse things before they get to that point. I’m finding that !technology is one of the communities where we’re most likely to have to lock threads or remove comments, other than maybe !politics, and I’m trying to be more proactive about reminding folks to deescalate when things get tense.
