The sound… the sound haunts my dreams

“I may not know much.”
That is a complete sentence.
It could absolutely be implemented by Sync.
I will talk to rude people that harass the admins of a free service that way.
You fucking donkey, did you read their comment before you replied to it? They aren’t doing it just because they want to; there are legal implications.
Fellas, is it weak to be attracted to someone?
Right, because Gs are never pronounced with a “J” sound, and acronyms are never pronounced differently than their full terms. Sound logic there; well done. Never mind any of these:
NASA- National Aeronautics Space Uhdministration
NATO- North Ayy-tlantic Treaty Organization
LASER- Light Ayy-mplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
SCUBA- Self Contained Oonderwater Breathing Uhpparatus
FOMO- Fear ohhf missing ohht
ASAP- Ayys soon ayys possible
POC- People ohhf solor
PIN- Personal id-entification number
BOGO- Buy ohhn get ohhn
POTUS- President ohhf the Uhhnited States
YOLO- You only live ohhnce
AWOL- Ayy-bsent without awfficial leave
ICE- Eyemmigration and Sustoms Enforcement
DARE- Drug Ayybuse Resistance Education
Sync for Reddit was a popular-ish third-party Reddit app. The dev has been working on building a version of it for Lemmy, and the surrounding community has been pretty excited for it. Recently, Sync for Lemmy was released, and there’s been a lot of fanfare, conversation, etc. In my opinion, it’s the most polished Lemmy client by far. Some people are annoyed that the premium features cost significantly more than they did in Sync for Reddit. The dev said it’s to offset the smaller user base, which seems reasonable to me, but it’s spurred a lot of arguments about the paid model.
This seems like a bit of a strawman argument. I haven’t seen anyone say that explicitly—if they have, it certainly isn’t common. I have seen people say they’re willing to pay for a “higher quality app,” and I can see how you could interpret the implication there being that FOSS apps are shitty in comparison. For me, though, I don’t interpret it the same way, and I’d assume positive intent. Some people like Sync better than the other apps and are willing to pay for it. That’s it, really.
I have no idea why so many people are upset about Sync. There are so many FOSS alternatives. Just… don’t use it? It literally doesn’t impact you at all.
I’ve only ever heard it pronounced lim-rix.
This made me laugh though.
Wait wait wait. Stop everything. I’ve found my post.
I too was like you. Every flimsy-ass can opener I had ever used couldn’t puncture cans consistently, would get off track, leave uncut sections, and just generally suck completely. I got so fed up replacing them that I went off the deep end researching these things.
My wife got impatient with me. She told me to come back to bed; that can openers weren’t this important. That didn’t stop me. I was going to put an end to the suck. I read review sites, I visited stores, I called people. After literal days of research, I made my decision.
A can opener doesn’t need to be complicated or decked out with fancy features. Fundamentally, the qualities you want are reliability, comfort, build quality, and leverage (i.e. a powerful mechanical advantage).
I didn’t buy the OXO. Not a side-cutter (don’t get me started). I bought the EZ-Duz-It can opener—an unassuming name for the most brilliant can opener ever built.
It’s inexpensive and durable. It securely latches onto cans and glides through them with ease. The knob spins smoothly with little effort. This thing is a dream. Never before have I experienced such a drastic shift in how I felt about a product.
There simply is no other answer.
I have nothing against people that want to use Threads, truly, and I would welcome them to Lemmy. That said, I do draw the line at federating with Threads. I’m here specifically because it’s not part of a big company. If anyone wants to enjoy that content, go for it! Just create an account over there.
I agree with this guy. If you keep your sub blacked out, people will just move to other subs or make alternatives. If you open it, you’ll be able to advertise Lemmy. Ultimately, that’s the only thing that’s going to kill Reddit. Lemmy has to grow into a viable competitor and poach Reddit’s userbase.
Hell, make automod comment about Lemmy on every submission. Write a set of instructions. Go to xyz URL, make an account, download Liftoff, subscribe to your new community on Lemmy.
I’m glad you’re so confident. This is the shit I hated about Reddit—combative for absolutely no reason.
As it happens, I did take this picture. Just because I didn’t write out a Wikipedia article about it in the title doesn’t mean I wasn’t there.
Go look at my post history. One of my first posts is about visiting the UK.
So what does he want to be called? Just a rat? But - there are actual rats, which are already called rats. Unless those don’t exist in this universe, “ratman” seems like a pretty reasonable term. He has both rat and humanoid features.
