So glad KDE exists.
So glad KDE exists.
Sure is but the pay off is worth it in the end. I see a future where we all (or most of us) have our own little home servers that federate and communicate our own needs vs relying on big companies forever.
Either that or pay for services vs using free ones. Proton suite is a great value and Kagi (paid search engine) is good too. Just little by little be the change you want to see in the world my friend. I started my foss journey with pihole and now I selfhost many things and I even pay for my own website to host email aliases and content on.
That ship has sailed unfortunately since everyone was conditioned to hate all cryptocurrency during the dogecoin and nft crazes. Though whenever anyone mentions crypto to me I am not afraid to mention monero as a serious option that I use even if no one knows about it or thinks its a shitcoin.
Do it anyway and ignore the backlash. If no one reports it then it will never be addressed. Its the drawing of attention to the matter that counts in my opinion.
The only complaint I have is that most communities or devs prefer you to open issues on places such as github instead but I feel it doesnt really matter since not everyone is willing to take the extra steps.
OSM is an awesome project I agree it is fun contributing to it but it is not as useful yet due to what you describe, details.
Finding addresses and other specific information is very hit or miss in some areas. Especially in the US where no one really cares about it other than tech corporations using it for quick info like street layouts.
My entire city has address numbers missing and for a long time I used an app on my phone (StreetComplete) to fix address numbers and other various details. But it can be overwhelming very quickly depending on how outdated or not updated your place is. Time you enjoyed wasting is not wasted time by the way.
