I looked up the numbers and found that SA has ~7x the population of LA, but LA has ~12x the prision population.
Louisiana population: 4.6 million
Saudi Arabia population: 32.2 million
Saudi leaders spend their petro money on their population to keep them happy and obedient in order to assure they stay in power. Americans are broke and have to commit crimes

Damn. The only thing Louisiana has going for it is New Orleans. Between the prison population and forcing religion down the throats of public school kids there’s nothing charming about the state.

I mean… To be a little bit fair, the middle east doesn’t police things nearly as much as a general rule. Lots of people break the law with zero consequences. I lived next door to Saudi for a time and it was a little better where I was but still a world of difference in adherence to and enforcement of general laws compared to most western countries.
