I am bad. Not terrible, but, I deserve all the bad things happening me because I’m not a good person. Now I think there’s worse things than being a bad person in this world but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m bad.
I think so, but others tend to disagree, so damn’fiknow.
I’m bad at being a good person, so that would make me a bad person?
I’ve been told by my peers throughout my life that I was a bad person. I can’t say I disagree. I sometimes do nice or selfless acts but in the end I do things that hurt people around me and I prioritize my needs above others. Sometimes i don’t even think about other peoples needs.
I constantly need to remind myself that other people are real people just like me and must have their own emotions and their own motivations. That doesn’t come naturally to me. Was raised by a successful narcissist so I ended up seeing and viewing the world like he did.
Came to terms that I’ll never actually be a good person but I can be a little less evil than he was. I’ll never kill people or rob disabled people like he did though. Even if it is easy.
That took a turn I wasn’t expecting

I don’t believe any regular person is truly bad (with several notable exceptions). People who commit horrible crimes obviously aren’t just bad, they’re evil, but the average person on the vast majority isn’t “bad”. People make mistakes, people are misguided, people are products of their environments. What makes a good person isn’t the absence of bad acts, but the self awareness to acknowledge those acts feel remorse, and try to do better. Knowing nothing about you or your situation, OP, I believe that you don’t deserve ALL the bad things in your life. The best way to combat that is to try every day to think about how your words and actions affect others. Let someone cut in front of you in traffic if you’re not in a rush, smile at or compliment a stranger, hold a door for someone. Little things that make you and them feel good. It’s a selfish thing, but leaves a net good in the world, so it’s probably fine.
My alignment is neutral good
Being aware of your own shortcomings and that you don’t like them is a gargantuan milestone, OP.
Most people are in extreme denial about who they are, and what their shortcomings are, and it leaves them very poor in regards to the potential to grow.
If you’re aware of and acknowledging things you don’t like about yourself: that’s actually a huge and powerful thing. You know what the things are about yourself that you that you want to improve.
Always remember, you don’t have to change completely overnight or anything, like you’re freaking Ebenezer Scrooge being visited by ghosts.
You can start by picking any one opportunity you see about yourself. “I don’t like that I (negative trait/action), so today I’m going to focus on (doing something positive regarding that trait/action).” Focus on that for a while… find joy when you succeed in being better. Don’t beat yourself up when you fail… just look at it as more opportunity to grow. Over time as you’re establishing positive habits, you can add new things to work on.
Your knowledge that you are on a journey of improvement and your determination are your superpowers.
I will say that if you decide that you want to grow for the better, definitely check in with the pros if you can, and not just random folks like me on the internet. But my point is, your self-acknowledgement is HUGE, and can be a tool you use to chisel your way to a better you. Don’t dwell on the past and keep beating yourself up about it… instead use it as your base to climb from. You’ve got this if you want it.
Yes, came in here to say that, the fact they’re aware of their shortcomings puts them way ahead of the pack already.
I love how a lot of people here admits they are just plain bad. Thank you. Is the first time I read something like this. Bad people I crossed always think they are the heroes of their own story. “You just don’t understand”.
Thank you. Please try to change, but… thank you anyway.
Is there anything you have done for which, if I had done the same actions, I would be irredeemable?
Is there anything that you have done, for which if I had done, you would expect me to jump into the volcano?
Feel free to judge yourself just a tiny bit more harshly than you would judge others. But only slightly. Give yourself as much of a break as you would give me after expressing remorse for my actions.
Not by any moral framework I focus on, no, I’m not “bad”.
Name checks out. But I don’t know what I am. I’m not outside of saying I have a lot of flaws, but ironically most of the things about me people complain about are the non-issues, which complicates things. Be the best person you can be, what more can we ask for?
I think morally I am good but a failure in many ways. I am broken and get in my own way when it comes to living a full life. But I am not wronging other people for the most part, just myself. Morality/ethics in general is very complex and subjective with two different interpretations of the same action giving wildly different judgements.
OP, why do you believe you are on the whole bad?
I wish I could tell you but the fuckers controlling this place hate sad posting , I already got banned once.
They banned you for breaking an unwritten rule? I don’t see anything in the rules about sad posts or even self disparagement.
There isn’t. But you already see someone here complaining about this post
Are you referring to the guy calling you a cop?
There’s 5 guys already… I’m thinking of deleting this. Fucking people
And another guy complaining
Yes.
Bad is too subjective a term for it to be a useful descriptor. Cut yourself some slack. We don’t life in a just universe, there is no supernatural force making sure “bad” people get what they “deserve.”
Good things happen to bad people, bad things happen to good. Good things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad. The universe is random.
Cut yourself some slack.
yep
I’ve done some reprehensible things, but I don’t think I’m a bad person. Bit of a short temper but I try be good to everyone and not hurt or use people like I was. But if karma existed, you would say I was a veritable Genghis Khan
