This trailer is really bringing out the bigots, especially in the YouTube comments. It sucks that the gaming community, literally based on having fun, can be so toxic

I played the first two games, and I watched the trailer.

What are the bigots whining about?

-oh look, there’s one down below in the comments. I’ll ask them.

Yeah the bigots didn’t ask me why I called them bigots. But I asked you. If they did ask, I’d tell them it’s because of how they make fun of women and trans people for existing. But you didn’t really care about that, you just wanted to start something. Not worth my time tho, goodbye.

It’s a woman main character in the trailer. Some loud, annoying gamers have a problem with that. Also that she isn’t super conventionally sexy, and is a representation of an average woman. And some people are calling her trans and not in a pro LGBT way.

Someone here made a comment about sweet baby inc, which is a company that works with game studios to help encourage diversity, which is apparently the end of the world for the people who call everything new “woke” unironically

Fable having this realistic art style still feels weird to me, but at least it seems like they’re matching the tone of the other games.

Not wanting to play an intentionally ugly character is bigotry for your smooth brain. I know youre hideous and want to feel represented but normal people prefer a character customization option so they can make the character they want and not be forced to play some ugly looking character because of “diversity. “

The fact that you think “intentionally ugly” and “diversity” are the same thing is just a staggering new form of ignorant intolerance. I’m going to need a minute to digest that.

                  Ok, so many question…

Is it that you only play as characters you want to fuck? Or you only play as characters that look like you? Or is it both, and you only want to fuck people who look like you, and want to play games where that’s part of it?

How ugly do you need to be to no longer be normal? Or is it being different from you that makes people ugly?

Are all ugly people minorities in your mind? Like you see someone on the street with crooked teeth and a mishapen head, and you think “Your kind aren’t welcome here!” Or are there certain minorities that are ugly to you, and you think this character model looks like one of “them”? Which group is even represented in this trailer?

I’m really curious about you. I’d really rather not be, and I’d probably be happier if I just forget you exist. You’re like a really weird shaped piece of dog shit. How were you formed? What the fuck was wrong with that dog?

I know you probably won’t give me answers, and will probably just fall back on some tired cliche of an insult again. But on the off chance that you feel like sharing, I’d love to know more.

Fair enough, and I’m happy to actually talk about it. I have no issue with diversity, but story should take precedence. It’s make believe and fairy tales, but the DEI is taking center stage, which is usually indicative of a mediocre product if you look at the metacritic scores for Sweet Baby Inc Detected reviews. Notable exceptions include God of War Ragnarok, which is one of my favorite games of all time, where their core team took the consults and used them to make it better (see Angrboda feedback neutralizing any complaints about DEI). That’s only because of how tastefully done it wasn’t just logjammed out of fear of backlash. They consulted, some feedback was taken, but the creative director wasn’t their puppet.

Fable and the predecessor games had a core team that’s disbanded now. It’s a blank slate and all I see is the DEI pandering, not a core product that looks compelling. It’s just more derivative sludge for wokeness’ sake. Hard pass.

It’s be nice for social networks to have features where you can just pattern-match off of idiot dogwhistle comments like Sweet Baby and automatically block users bringing them up. I have to do it for YouTube and thankfully the incel videos have toned down a little, but every once in a while I get a “Men are OPPRESSED”.

Don’t have an Xbox but I remember these games really fondly. This looks cool, but like, kind of insanely polished for a Fable game? Interested to see what the vibe of the finished game is like.

So it seems we don’t create our own hero? Which, I get that it would limit facial animations and dialogue, but becoming your own hero was such a huge part of Fable.

Anyway, it looks stunning, graphics-wise. I’m looking forward to it for sure.

Wait, fable has a feature to create our hero? I thought the hero was predetermined. Forgive my ignorance since I only ever played The Lost Chapter. I hope MS will give fable the Halo treatment so I could play the other series too.

In Fable 2 & 3 you could select the gender of your character, but that was it. Their appearance was then shaped by your karma etc. like in the first game.

The trailers have used a female hero as the stand in, which, for some reason, people have taken to mean we don’t get to choose the gender or anything.

Ah, I thought it was like Dragon Age: Origins or even Skyrim. Because yeah, that is the Fable that I remembered. The appearance is affected by our action but we cannot create a hero to our liking.

Seems like they may be playing some kind of game with the language in the trailer, I’m not sure the “her” is the player character.

That was pretty clear. The apparent player character was a misdirect. The figure that comes in at the end seems to be the “her” referred to, and potentially the main antagonist of the game. I’m sure, just like in all other iterations, you’ll have a custom built player character of any sex/gender.

I think it might be that one woman in the trailer who says “I’m a Hero, why not do what I want?”

Definitely gave me selfish, villain-y vibes.

Although it could be she’s like the Reaver of the new Fable.

Thats not how i took it. I think that hero he was referring to was actually the main villain of the series. The way he said “made all the wrong choices” was what clued me in.

I assumed that he was referencing the morality mechanic that’s been a staple of the game from the beginning. Be good, and you’re revered. Be evil, and people will fear you. Also, your looks change to match, IIRC. “Really sticks with you.”
