I expect a community named “unpopular opinions” to not ban someone for having an unpopular opinion.

Because sexist speech isn’t free speech. And sexist opinions break the rules of the unpopular opinion community. Literally read the rules.
Unpopular opinion: rules don’t matter because mods have almost infinite leeway to interpret anything they want as anything they want.
