    My argument was that a classroom is not the place to make statements like this. I don’t think there should even be the flag of the country there - we have flagpoles for that purpose. Putting them in the classroom is unecessarily divisive/provocative in my view. I say this as a person belonging in the very minority this flag represents.

    The argument that changed my mind is that having the flag there indicates to closeted students that said teacher is a safe person to come talk to if you’re dealing with difficulties in your life because of your sexuality. I think that was a good point that I hadn’t though of before so I changed my mind.
