I wouldn’t say “force”. The company voluntarily started transitioning their platforms over to the fediverse long before these laws came into effect.
WhatsApp wasn’t the first to transition but that makes sense given E2EE makes doing so technically difficult.
Maybe. Still WA seems the only messager EU cares about.
WhatsApp is very popular in West Europe, but Viber is more popular in East Europe and that one is currently riddled with ads and annoying pop-ups.
E2EE encryption is like saying ATM machine.
