Anti-war Michiganders are banding together in the crucial swing state to urge fellow voters to choose the “uncommitted” slot on their Democratic Party primary ballots next week, with the aim of getting President Joe Biden to shift his stance of unwavering support for Israel’s deadly assault on the Gaza Strip.

Now, a centrist Democratic pro-Israel group is running an ad campaign in the state to persuade Michiganders to be vocal in their support of Biden — and tick the box next to his name on the primary ballot.

The moves are a Democrat-focused version of the wider pro-Israel push to unseat members of Congress who criticize Israel’s rights abuses against Palestinians, call for a ceasefire in the war on Gaza, and move to limit or restrict arms sales to Israel. The attacks have targeted progressives, particularly members of the Squad.

Organizers of the campaign to select “uncommitted” say they intend the protest vote as a vote of no confidence on Biden’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza — and a warning that having voters dissatisfied with his position could come back to bite the president in the general election.

What a coincidence, these same centrist democrats are infesting every thread on this community as well!

There are three comments here currently and so the conspiratorial bullshit is plainly that. Kudos to the poster beneath you that made a coherent point in lieu of tinfoil hattery.

Could it be in the realm of possibility that people in Michigan, and other states, view the conflict in the Middle East as more complicated than “Israel bad”? People are capable of viewing the actions of the current Israeli leadership as anathema while still understanding the rationale behind continued military support.

Using loaded language like “infested” only raises questions on other biases coloring opinions.

Israel is bad. It’s not that complicated. Hamas is also bad.

Hamas is a less effective evil than Israel is. That’s just how it is. No one is suggesting we send weapons to Hamas, we should just stop sending any form of aid at all to Israel unless they immediately stopped the genocide campaign, surrender their murderous leadership to the Hague, and immediately stop the illegal settlements.

That would be a good first step for Israel to show the whole world that it actually isn’t evil, and just was led by an evil person.

How about in exchange for Israel stopping this new Holocaust we continue to agree not to aid, enable, or tolerate anybody who aids Hamas? We can’t do it alone though We need Israel to stop propping up Hamas.

Also let’s just never give them any more money ever again. Obviously if they have free college and universal health care they can pay their own fucking bills.

Why don’t you people ever demand that Hamas do the same and release the hostages???

we continue to agree not to aid, enable, or tolerate anybody who aids Hamas?

That was the policy pre October 7th and since basically forever. Didn’t stop the massacre from happening.

I won’t pretend Israel did nothing wrong and is completely in the right (because we all know that would be a lie) but you’re downplaying just how horrible Hamas is.

Hamas is Israel’s baby. Benjamin Netanyahu made it what it is today intentionally and specifically to undermine the legitimacy of palestine’s right to its own self-determination.

October 7th was an inevitable response to the intentionally murderous apartheid prison state Israel has built to house the native population. The ethnic cleansing didn’t start on October 7th, And it was the government of Israel that allowed it to happen both directly through funding Hamas and indirectly through ignoring all of the warnings leading up to that.

Israel is holding lots of hostages and murdering lots of children. They’ve also murdered lots of The Israeli hostages taken by Hamas when they’re being released.

Israel let October 7th happen, they sacrificed their own civilians in a ghoulish attempt to create a pretext to finish the extermination of the Palestinian people whose land they have taken.

No one’s down playing how bad Hamas is, maybe Benjamin Netanyahu shouldn’t have encouraged funding them all these years.

I’m saying Israel is at least as bad because they have the same exact goal (ethnically cleansing a population they don’t like from a country they think they own) but the only difference is Israel has lots of weapons and gets to do whatever it wants without even having to pay for its own bills or face any kind of international scrutiny.

In a just world, Israel sends the genocidal leadership of their own government to the Hague, ends the illegal settlements, ends the apartheid state, and starts paying reparations to the Palestinians they have been abusing for over 70 years.

Anything short of that and Israel is choosing violence, war, and genocide.

            The problem is Israel.

Israel is making a really good case right now for why they might not be mature enough to manage their own state.

Of course it’s in the realm of possibility. We have two rabid conservative parties running this coutry, so does it surprise you when the right-wing propaganda sticks? It’s clear that many people support the genocidal state of Israel. That’s the problem.

I hate to do this. To any voters here, don’t let anyone tell you what to do with your vote. It’s yours and yours only and your RIGHT to use it anyway you want.

I’m pro democracy, but the way white people treat every minority is just disgusting in this day and age. And anyone telling Biden is not as bad as Trump is lying. Just Google his speeches as a young senator and look at how much money he gets from Jewish donators and tell me it’s not disgusting they expect this POS to be fair and neutral in this war. He’s not and it’s time to show him YOU exist. You have the right to vote for him, against him or even stay at home.

All the people telling you that when Trump wins it will be far worse. No. It will be worse yes, for WHITE people, because they’ve never experienced the hate and humiliation we experience on a daily basis. What they’ll never get is we’re used to living under these circumstances. There is not one country in the West that’s a safe heaven for Muslims/Minorities.

Let ‘democracy’ do it’s job and stop badgering, invalidating minorities’ feelings and thoughts. And honestly, white people are the reason Trump exists. So go out there and find some more white people and Jews to vote for your Biden.
