Well, at any point someone could start a philosophical discussion or debate about:

    1. whether Hell is eternal
    2. whether torture for eternity is fair for 80 years or less of life
    3. whether God is compassionate and forgiving
    4. whether God is malicious

    or…

    1. They could just dismiss it as ignorant, post no elaboration on what they specifically mean, and not realize that Showerthoughts are meant to be humorous and not taken so seriously that you get your panties all wedged up in your crack so that you can’t take a joke anymore. ;D

So… was it a serious statement intended to promote discussion, or just a joke?

      You can’t play both teams.

Yes you can! I am sorry if your critical thinking skills are so limited you cannot understand that. Go up and look at Chainweasel’s first comment. He wrote the perfect comment. He understood it, why can’t you?

No, you can’t, and don’t try and gaslight me about it.

You’re either being serious or you’re not. You can’t change your intent based on the response.

And FYI, critical thinking is exactly what enables me to see through this, taking me from “maybe this guy’s just clueless” to “nah just a troll”.

1 - Read and understand “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift

2 - George Carlin’s entire comedic career was using provocative statements wrapped up inside jokes.

Most of the times opinions are neither right or wrong, they are just opinions. However, in this case your opinion is wrong!

Also, when someone simply disagrees with you that is not “gaslighting”.
