Help me
Taaake oooon meeeee
Won’t help anyone who hasn’t watched the music video
Most dads will have seen it, though, right?
Ok, if you insist.
This meme uses a play on words, relating the term “a-ha moment” as a point of realisation to the name of the Norwegian band “a-ha”. The pencil sketch filter imitates the music video of a-ha’s “take on me”.
The music video for Take On Me by Aha uses a technique called rotoscoping, which is where you take live action footage and draw or paint over it to make it look like a cartoon. If you look up the video, it should be pretty evident what the relationship is to the meme.
You likely already know this part, but “an A-Ha moment” is an idiom that refers to a sudden insight or realization, and here is a play on words, invoking the music group mentioned above: It’s an “A-Ha moment” not due to a flash of insight, but due to temporarily(…?) taking on
methe appearance of being rotoscoped. But this is a filter, not a rotoscope. So, it’s not really an aha moment.
I am pleased that you understand well enough now to form that opinion, lol.
If you’ve never heard the MTV Unplugged version, do yourself a favour.
Behind the 80’s synthpop cheerfulness there’s a lovely sad song.
There’s also this version.
