I’m looking to upgrade my smartphone and I’m wondering what you all would recommend. I’ve only ever had iPhones since I’ve received them as gifts, but I’m kind of sick of the functionality decaying over time. I’m currently using an iPhone SE but its 64 GB storage is almost full and it’s been buggy and slow lately (as they tend to do).
I don’t need anything fancy or with ridiculously HD cameras or any AI assistant. I have 21.52 GB of music (primarily via burned CDs and some through iTunes and BandCamp) that I want to have stored and playable on the phone that I’d be using and not stored on a cloud since I don’t want access to be dependent on internet connection. I also need storage space for this music collection to grow over time too.
I’d really rather the new smartphone to not be super expensive and I’d like for it to last into the future. The idea of the foldable phones intrigues me but I don’t know if the technology is fully fleshed out yet or if they’re reasonably priced.
Thanks all for any advice
Pixel with GrapheneOS.
Do this. You won’t regret it. The website makes it nearly a one-click operation, and you then have one of the most private, secure operating systems there is right now.
You can even go grab a 6a or 8a or something on eBay for cheap, and get the great GrapheneOS experience.
They’re all shit, sry. Last okayish one was Samsung S10e and it came with pre-installed bloat and questionable apps. Newer ones are impractically huge. Foldable screens are either not waterproof or break soon. Pine Phone not waterproof. It’s all shit. They lost track of peoples needs. Force us to buy the least worst.
What is your budget and what’s your usage like?
Budget isn’t really pinned down to a number. I don’t need anything top end so probably several hundred USD max ideally?
Usage is mostly internet. Background picture in picture for YouTube/Twitch would be great. I use apps to do banking and pay bills. Snapchat, email, and Google Suite are needed. Text/call and a web browser are given. I do occasional photography so a basic HD camera would be needed.
I use my phone most waking hours, even passively to play music while working or driving.
