A helpful guide on how to be less frustrating towards people of color.
This is focused at Americans. Don’t assume readers on the internet are from your country.
Are you assuming where we live?
The article has several points that are American specific.
It’s an American magazine, written in American English for an American audience about American racism. You’re the one assuming that every article needs to be written for a globalized audience. How would that even be possible for a complicated, nuanced, and hyper-localizef social disorder like racism?
Every article doesn’t need to be written for a global audience, but it should specify who the audience is. The title and intro don’t specify American. It should say “100 ways white Americans …”. So the rest of the world doesn’t waste time reading this crap that isn’t relevant for them.
this is, respectfully, the goofiest objection i’ve ever seen. stop being so fragile over a headline
If it was a one-off, I wouldn’t care. But this is pervasive on the internet. Every article assumes you’re American and care about America.
i’m sorry but this is not the place to have a meltdown over this. you’re not the center of the universe and not everything is a personal affront to you because it doesn’t frame things in a way you would prefer
And US defaultism is very much related to racism. So I think it’s very relevant.
I am not the centre of the universe? Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black. My entire argument is that you’re not the centre of the universe and you should stop acting like you are.
