I am off from my day job until January 2nd. But I work my night job every single day. The only day off all year is Christmas ever.

I work for a university and we used to get two weeks off between Christmas and New years every year, now with our new president he’s decided to only extend that privilege to the faculty and the staff only get Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day off but have to work the rest of the time.

Mental health clinician… Worked Christmas Eve and Christmas (a lot of extra money), and got no calls so that’s nice. I took new years Eve and day off. In general we see a lot of kids leading up to the holidays. Sometimes a lot after too; can be hit or miss I guess. Our busiest times are at the changing of the seasons, spring and fall, when seemingly everyone becomes manic/psychotic.

I T. Unionized day job is in a cautious running mode (emergency work only) and I’m off anyway. Night contractor job is in a “everyone is out so do the big-hammer stuff nao” mode.

Mine is kinda stupid- self employed musician taking two and a half weeks off to be home for Christmas, nye, and my mom’s birthday. November was an excellent month for me, but December was slightly sub par. I’m not gonna starve when I get back, but I’m going to need to hustle like mad.

I’m half-in-office and half-WFH, and this year I’m in the office which sucks. We also don’t get Christmas Eve off. It’s extremely slow. I am hungover and doing (in my opinion) absolutely nothing today, except I have quantifiably done more work than anyone else in my department today.

Next week, I will be “working” from my bed all week, watching stuff with my cats. I am extremely excited.

We are given 24th/25th off. Most people supplement this on either side of the date with PTO. I never do because:

• I am not Christian and don’t care about Christmas.
• I have no children so I don’t have much to concern myself with this time of year.
• Many of my co-workers are Christian and do have children so I forego time off so we have enough coverage that they can spend time doing religious/family things.
• I have mental health issues and keeping as much of a routine as possible helps.

I’m getting laid off, so using up my “use it or lose it” PTO. Most of my current coworkers take time off, so it’s usually pretty quiet at work anyway.

The same as every single other day of the year, since I’m my own boss and set my own schedule.

The company I work for has few fixed holidays, but lots of discretionary time off, and very little direct customer service, so it’s an individual choice. Many people take the week between Christmas and New Years off. I don’t; I’d rather have extra time off when the weather is warmer and I can play outside.

Was at work Monday finished Christmas Eve morning at 1, then had Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day off then back to work tomorrow and Monday then off New Year’s Eve and day. The after I’m working as normal

I’m off this week until after new years, although I’m on-call next week. I didn’t ask to swap with someone else because it’s typically quiet during the holidays, so I get to use my turn on the rotation without actually having to do much.

I’m technically always at work, including when eating Christmas dinner, or sleeping, or now while I’m on the porcelain throne.

But it’s not too bad. I just have to be available, and it’s rare that something happens that it can’t wait a little while. And often it’s something that is relatively quick to deal with.

I fixed a bug in a perl script while cooking Christmas dinner, that’s all that’s happened this holiday season.

Everyone gets a 2 week break around Christmas and New Years. I work intermittently on stuff that has to get done, like payroll, but otherwise rest and hang out with my family.

I am the chef at a high-end assisted living facility. Before that, I was a caterer. It’s also the busiest time of year for me.
