Nice. I just got above 2 for my ratio. I don’t have symmetric internet, but I have my torrents set up to never stop, and I don’t delete.

God I wish I had symmetrical upload. Gigabit down and like, 125mbps up.

Not to much for this but I self host stuff like my photos and I notice it’s slower when scrolling my photos outside the house. And using my personal VPN, makes my download limited to my upload speed.

In terms ot total data moved, I have 2.4TiB up on a Star Trek full season pack, for a ~35 ratio. That torrent’s been around for years and I suspect won’t die for many years yet. Oldest seeded torrent would be about 8 years.

This is behind NAT, 12mbits upstream.

My most uploaded file is a copy of Shrek 2 with Latin American Spanish dub, it took me over a month to download. I swear to God the only one seeding it was someone who would just open their client, download whatever they were looking for, then shut it off. It’s the only copy of that dub I could find in decent quality. Now I’m at ~50 ratio for that file.

If you can only find 0 seed torrents just chuck it in your client anyway, I’ve had several actually complete.

I’ve once had to bring up my ratio on a (now defunct) private torrent site in orde to download new torrents. I was looking for high leech low seed torrents, and I am ashamed to say I’ve seeded over 500 GB of granny porn (like 20gb original size). Brought up my ratio, tho.

This is great advice. It’s easy to get disheartened with a spinning torrent, but heroes like you can turn that around.

I’m fairly certain that Ubittorrent messed up my user account on my old Mac, and now I am really leery to start it up on my new Mac. I also have no idea how to go about diagnosing whether I have malware or something, because I have never run into this issue on a Mac before. I also have had trouble setting limits on uploads so all my bandwidth isn’t sucked away, and ChatGPT was not effective with its advice. Usually I leave it running for days on end though, and I also don’t delete.

It’d be more interesting to see the “Real Uploaded” and “Real Downloaded” stats for this profile. The “Uploaded” stat can be padded by using bonus points, and the “Downloaded” stat does not include freeleech.

That is also why I didn’t post this proof originally. The real numbers for this one are less impressive.

            Real Uploaded 1.162 TiB

            Real Downloaded 744.29 GiB

            Real share ratio 1.599

Thanks for posting your numbers! An >1.5 ratio is still great. For example I’m below 1 as I don’t really get any upload on most things. They just don’t seem to get snatched much.

Do you seed many audiobooks or mainly ebooks? I guess the former given your large amount of data downloaded.

A lot of audiobooks. When new free leech items drop, I think it’s every 2 weeks, I was just grabbing all of them. And then you get bonus points for seeding. It got to the point where I get Max bonus points (99,999) in about 24 hours and then just use that to buy upload credit.

The trick to getting a lot of upload is to be one of the first people to download and start seeding a torrent. You can also automate downloading with Autobrr, that way you download something as soon as it’s available, and then everyone who downloads after you is getting it from you

for every upload there must be a download.

for every download there must be an upload.

It must be symmetrical, meaning that you boasting, you being better than other people is only possible because others aren’t good enough.
