I always thought he was known for fictional war writing like Tom Clancy. I never knew he was known for his horror stories. He wrote Hellraiser and Candyman was inspired by a short he wrote. I might need to add him to one of my favorite authors…

I’m curious how old you and OP are. I have no idea how you’re surprised by this.

No that’s not relevant here. Clive Barkers name is synonymous with horror.

“Til Santa goes down chimneys. I’m one of the ten thousand!” Not how it works.

You would be amazed what people who have been around for 70 years or more should know but don’t.

My mother is 83. She doesn’t live in a hole. She’s doesn’t ignore popular culture, or at least didn’t until she was probably in her late 60s.

I told her my daughter went to a Steve Miller Band concert. Did she say, “oh, they’re still around?” No. She said, “who?”

And then I sang “The Joker” and “Jet Airliner” and she still had no idea.

Well yeah, obviously no one knows everything. But OP has the wrong person to start with, and then this other person chimes in as if they know what OP is talking about. And then uses the 10k as an excuse.

I love that there might two new fans of Barker, that’s awesome. But the entire thing is built on a misunderstanding haha.

I was honestly curious how old they are. But the snide remark makes me not care anymore.
