I am concerned about ten forward seemingly deciding to do a war on fascism. This community is basically insurance for those who just want pure Star Trek shitposting.

No bigotry or fascism. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable, neither is supporting people who actively want to kill those groups. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

So quick thing. Our community has a rule of ‘No bigotry’. Honestly? I think that if you voted for Trump you basically violated that rule. So lemme be clear. If you voted for Trump, voted for Third Party, or didn’t vote at all and you say as much on this community, I will permanently ban you. Yes, I am including Third Party in that. Jill Stein is an open asset of the Russians. More over, a Third Party candidate was never going to win. Your position of a protest vote did nothing other than fuck over everyone else in the country. You are just as bad as the people who did not vote and worse than the people who voted for Trump. At least they were honest about what they were doing. You deluded yourself into believing that a completely different election was happening and actively enabled fascism. You do not get to call yourself a Star Trek fan when your actions have shown that you go against absolutely everything that it stands for and represents.

Also some of the mods of that community have gotten in trouble elsewhere for there “quests” against fascism. I don’t care what you believe but forcing a large community to hyperfocus on some silly agenda is not a good look for moderators.

I think I get the argument, and I’m not going to defend fascists, but if a fascist comes to a Star Trek community to discuss Star Trek, cool. If they come there to talk about how awesome fascism is, seeya. If the mods of a community want to ban people for their views that have not been shared in the Star Trek community they run, that’s bs. If the content is on topic, nobody should be getting banned.

The quote does say, if you did these things, and say as much in this community. Now, certainly, Trek has politics baked in, but advocating the clearly fascist choice is kind of what they always go against. If they were checking user history to do a little purity test, I’d agree that would be going too far.

I’ve got a life. I’m not spending time going through someones post history to find out if they liked Trump elsewhere. But yeah, if you’re trying to defend fascism (or make it seem like not a big deal, like Possibly Linux was) then I’m going to kick you out of the community. Star Trek has made it aggressively clear that it has always been political since they filmed the Cage. Star Trek has also made it abundantly clear that fascists are wrong and go against everything Star Trek stands for. There is a reason that the fascists are always the bad guy.

I’m simply not going to allow someone to spread fascistic propaganda in Ten Forward. We have enough of it from the Cardassians.

So if OP wants to run off and make their own Star Trek community that tacitly approves of fascism then by all means. I just dunno how many people are going to want to engage with that.
