So not bathroom related tasks, but more like some arbitrary thing you must and always do daily.
For me, I watch Anton Petrov’s daily white paper summary with dinner since some time in 2018. Even when New Pipe is down, I hit up Vimeo or Odyssey to watch Anton.
Thanks for the Anton Petrov recommendation. I’ve been looking for better up to date science reviews, and I was getting sick of the Two Minute Papers channel with its near-constant shilling for Nvidia and OpenAI.
For me, a daily thing I do is sit in my grandmothers armchair, and put my feet up on a small table that also belonged to her, with my laptop on my lap. I realise that sitting is not a super exciting task, but I guess sitting draped in the unconditional love of your deceased grandma’s possessions makes it sound a bit better.
I’m going to have to go with Hydrogen on this one.
Espresso in the morning. Cappuccino after meal. It’s been at least ten years.
Eating dinner with family daily. I was talking with some coworkers and apparently this isn’t something most people do anymore? I really enjoy this time with them and we’ve always had great conversations while I was growing up and now with my own family.
I’m very interested, would like to have family dinner tradition too when/if I start a family. I just don’t have any idea how to start. Can you tell me more how does the routine go? Like, who is responsible for what? Do you cook/buy dinner? What are the do’s and don’ts while having dinner? How to enforce it while making sure everyone enjoy this routine? What kind of obligations are okay as an excuse to not participate?
I know it’s too many questions, just the gist of it is fine.
It’s more for immediate family in the house. My wife loves to cook so she usually does, unless she’s going to be busy and then I’ll chip in. Sometimes we have the kids make dinner and we meal plan so they get to decide what to make. Conversation is a lot more organic than you’re thinking. We talk about our day or what we’ve recently learned. Could go into taboo subjects like religion and politics. The kids get some great critical thinking exercises. If someone has something going on the we try to eat around that (ex like a sports function to be at). Most other people eat around the same time (5p-6p) so it’s fairly easy to ensure we eat together most nights. I guess the biggest take away is that we set this expectation since before we had kids, my wife and I tried to eat dinner together whenever possible, and it’s the kids have grown up with that routine so they’re used to it.
Me and my husband do the same. It might seem silly but I can’t stress the importance of sharing a meal together enough. It helps teach kids so many things in a shared household.
I drink coffee on my porch with my wife so we can identify birds and say hi to all the runners and dog walkers.

Here’s a list of things I used to jerk it to
This is nice.
I play the Daily Challenge everyday on MobilityWare’s solitaire game. I’ve played 3,607 daily challenges to date.
I watch the Daily Silksong News. Tomorrow, for sure…
I think there might be an objectively true answer for most (all?) here: wake up.
There might be some all nighters, but besides that, every day for almost everyone starts with waking up, which is also arguably an important part of the daily routine.
Surf the internet while I drink my morning coffee
Cup of Yorkshire tea and half a dozen rich tea biscuits to dip first thing in the morning.
I poop IN the toilet
Making coffee and tea for my wife when she wakes up, make the lunchbox for my student son, sometimes also for my wife if she needs to get to the office. Nobody eats breakfast so after that I clean up and fill the dishwasher from last nights dinner, that I cook daily. Inbetween I game, relax, make music, pet the cat.
It is nice being early retired and doing the housekeeping.
I guess you’re kind enough to do that.
Making dinner for the family. You could always order out.
Reading the news while having breakfast, though it’s now on my laptop instead of the newspapers I started this habit with.
