Yikes! Moved out when I graduated. Only reason I’ll ever go back is for a wedding or a funeral.

We moved away to L.A. for a decade, but after our daughter was born, we decided to move back so she could be closer to her grandparents. In some ways, involving that sort of thing, I’m glad. But politically it is just a nightmare.

Mind if I ask how you liked LA coming from Indiana? I like in Indianapolis now but considered LA for awhile.

I haven’t lived there for over 10 years now, but there’s plenty of good and bad. The weather is, of course, great. There’s tons of stuff to do and tons of food options. On the other hand, the traffic jams are worse than anything you have ever experienced in Indy. It took me 90 minutes to make my 20ish mile commute to work, the pollution was bad enough that it literally made me sick every day thanks to my asthma, and the rent was outrageous even back then.

But you can’t beat the weather.

Probably the worst thing about L.A. is tourists. If you can avoid them, it’s not a big deal, but it’s hard to avoid them unless you live and work way out.

Oh, and that’s the other thing. L.A. is vast. Bigger than you could possibly imagine. Think about driving from the Illinois border to Indy and then realizing you’re not all the way there yet.
