Since he can still run for office and become president while in prison, is this actually going to do anything to stop him from being president? Obviously it’s not gonna sway anyone who’s gonna vote for him, so is there any actual way this keeps him from office, or at least has some positive effect for us? I wanna join the celebration about this, but I don’t see any way it actually leads to a good outcome, just more deeply convince those for or against him that they’re right, maybe at best a few people on the fence about voting for Biden will be convinced by this. It just feels like theatrics, something to grab people’s attention that will never have any real effect on Trump or his campaign

The trial took place in New York City. One of the most Bluest city in the world. Also the sentencing hearing is schedule for July 11. The Republican National Convention is on July 15-18. Crazy timing with that. It almost like they want the trial stuff in the news around that time.

Could I, an American citizen, not trust you to be impartial on a jury? Your red/blue dichotomy is bullshit. If I can’t trust you to do your duty as a citizen, are you behaving like an American? Stop making it about sides. Make it about facts and specifics and individuals and holding everyone responsible for their own decisionmaking.

What about it? It has to happen sometime. Sentencing, as far as I know, often comes a while after a trial is decided, especially if it’s a big trial with a lot of arguments.

You can’t have it both ways: if they sentenced right now there would be complaints that there wasn’t enough time and diligence given. If they wait, it gets close conventions, if they wait too long, that’s not speedy due process.

Can we stop with the idea that it’s all red vs. all blue conspiracy and realize that it’s the real world where there is always some bullshit involved?
