Any European here who can elaborate for me how to perform steps 0 and 1? I don’t know where to search for bins with bag sizes assigned to them or for bags of specific sizes.

Pretty much everywhere I can buy a bin in the UK will tell me its capacity in litres as part of the product description (or on the label if you’re in a physical shop)

Most bin liners you can get from the supermarket have the corresponding capacity written on their labels

Most bins end up falling into a few common sizes, so you usually don’t have to try hard to find a match unless you get a weird bin

Sure, but I don’t think capacity is enough. You need to match dimensions of the opening and the height/width of the container as well. In my experience it’s impossible to match the bin dimensions to the bag dimensions.

Well if you want exact fitting bags to bins, I think companies like Brabantia do exactly that, but that comes at a bit of a premium in both the bin and then buying their bags
